M. Joan Hogg
HOGG —- Courageously at her residence in London on Thursday October 2nd 2003, M. Joan (Bromley) Hogg in her 73rd year. Cherished mother of Shirley Riggs and her husband Brian, Eva Douglas, Peter Hogg, Barbara Jennings and her husband Peter all of London; and predeceased by her daughter Linda Hogg. Dear sister of Art Bromley and his wife Linda, and Keith Bromley and his wife Hazel, and predeceased by her sister Marion Lockwood. Dearly loved by her 4 grandchildren; Jessica Riggs, Alex Douglas, and David and Ben Jennings. Joan was born on September 28, 1931 on a farm near the village of Westmeath, Ontario. Joan graduated from the Lorraine School of Nursing in Pembroke, Ontario in 1952 and worked in several of the communities she lived in but became a stay-at-home mother as her family got larger. She returned to nursing at Extendicare Nursing Home here in London and worked there until her retirement in 1990. Joan has travelled to many parts of the world and has visited parks all over Canada in order to hike, camp and watch wildlife. Genealogy was another of her interests and she compiled extensive family records. Joan also had a passion for books, having collected and read hundreds over the years. She was very devoted to her grandchildren and was always happy to babysit at a moment’s notice. The complete funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Saturday October 4th at 1 P.M. with Reverend Philip Newman of Riverside United Church officiating. Cremation to follow. JURJANS — Suddenly in Riga, Latvia on Tuesday September 30th 2003, Skaidrite Aina (Liepa) Jurjans of London in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Valdis Rikards Jurjans (1997). Dear mother of Martin and his wife Christine, Aija Frania and her husband Henry, Juris, Maris, Rita Rumbold and her husband Allan, and Paul and Sue. Dear sister of Egils Liepa and Aija Lordo. Also loved by her grandchildren Skye and her husband Anthony, Dawn and her husband Stephen, Benjamin, Marika, Martin, Dagan, Sandra, Alex, Katrina and Maija. Dear great-grandmother of Rachael, Chloe and Michaela. Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 P.M. Tuesday October 7th at the A. Wichman, Nina Irene – It is with deep sadness that we announce her sudden passing on September 28, 2003. She joins her beloved husband Ulf Frithiof and will be dearly missed by her children, Kristina, Monika, Rolf, and Bert and their spouses Mike, Tony, Elizabeth, and Trudy as well as her five grandchildren, Rachel, Christian, Amanda, Eric, and Anna. Her family was the centre of her universe but she had many special friends including Kerstin and Marilyn . She was a dedicated nurse for many years at Victoria Hospital and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. She also had a special talent for cooking and handicrafts. Friends will be received at the A. On Saturday September 20th 2003, surrounded by his loving family, Gordon Stanley Harris, formerly of London, passed away at his Grand Bend home after a short battle with cancer, in his 67th year. Long time companion and best friend of Win Kilbourne. Dear father of Darlene Michelle (Shelly) Burrell and her husband Steve of Strathroy; beloved son of George Harris and the late Kathleen Harris; loved by his sisters Kathleen McDonald and Colleen Bannon, and brothers George and Ken, and other family members. Also loved by his grandchildren Terra and Ben, and his cherished pets Shadow and Bulldozer.
