    SMALLMAN, Hugh Christopher…..Peacefully at People Care, Stratford on Monday, November 22, 2010, Hugh Christopher Smallman in his 92nd year. Beloved son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christopher S. Smallman. Special friend of Ida May McCully of Mitchell and her niece Joan MacKenzie of Stratford. Predeceased by his brother Marvin H. Smallman and his wife Helen. Hugh served with the Essex Scottish Regiment overseas during World War II. There will be an interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 1:00pm with Reverend David Carrothers officiating. (A.     Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital, London on Friday, November 19, 2010 Reverend August “Augie” W. Meacham of London in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Geraldine E. (Monk) Meacham for 61 years. Dearly loved father of Mary Candace Herold of Windsor and John Alexander Meacham and his wife Shelia of Orlando, Fla. Loving grandpa of Ian Herold, Toronto, Anna Ahenakew and her husband Larry of Calgary, Owen Herold, Windsor and Emily Meacham, Orlando, Gracie and Jim Michels, Rebecca and Michael Taylor, Melissa and Brett Alderman, all of Indianapolis. Great grandfather of August Ahenakew, Madison and Isabelle Alderman, Jackson Taylor and Henry Michels. Dear brother of Homer Meacham and his wife Margaret of Drumbo and Frances Bethune and her husband Jim of Paris, ON. Brother-in-law to Lucille West of Waterloo and Rosemond Limebeer of Brampton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Leone Brown and brothers-in-law Walter Brown and Ernie West. Augie was born August 7, 1922 on the family farm near Princeton, ON, son of the late William Meacham and the late Florence (Crumback) Meacham. He served in World War II from 1942-1946 as a signaller with the Cape Breton Highlanders and received the Military Medal for bravery while in Italy. After graduation from Victoria College and Emmanuel College in Toronto Augie was ordained into the ministry of the United Church of Canada in 1953 serving on pastoral charges of Wawa, Thamesford, Blenheim, and Bryanston and as Personnel Officer for the London Conference for 15 years. August took a leadership role in the courts of the church, serving 2 years as President of London Conference and on the executives and committees of Oxford, Kent and Middlesex presbyteries as well as on national committees. His commitment to enabling people to grow in their faith was expecially evident in his skillful leadership of Bible study and discussion groups which he did with sensitivity and humor. Retirement activities included following the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, bird watching, gardening, times spent at his beloved cottage on Lake Huron and attending church meetings. The family acknowledges with deep gratitude the compassionate and loving care Augie received from Dr. Steer and the staffs of 4BS and 5BS during his 7 years in Veterans Care at Parkwood Hospital. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be held at First-St. Andrew’s United Church, 350 Queens Avenue (at Waterloo), London on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 11:00 am with Reverend Dr. Susan Shelstad officiating. Interment in Springford Cemetery, Springford ON at 3:00 pm.     BOGDEN, Frederick Henry……Peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig on Thursday, November 18, 2010, Frederick Henry Bogden in his 73rd year. Beloved partner of the late Michael Henry Williams. Fred will be survived by his brother Jack Bogden and his wife Sandra of Nanaimo, B.C., his sister Joan Conklin of Winnipeg, M.B., his son J.P. Bogden and his wife Vicki Tickle of Vancouver, B.C., his daughter Jennifer Bogden and her husband Dr. David Sam of Calgary, A.B. and their children Owen and Avery Sam, and his former wife Rietta Bogden. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Fred lived and worked in cities across Canada in the marketing and furniture industries before retiring in London, Ontario. He had a life-long passion for entertaining and was happiest when he was able to share good food and wine with his family and friends. Fred was a loving and gentle partner, husband, father and friend and he will be deeply missed. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a later date

    Peacefully, on Monday November 15, 2010, while hymns and Bible verses were being recited, Gladys slipped peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus in whom she trusted fully. Beloved wife and best friend of William J. (Bill) Carey. Cherished mother of Alicia Phelps (Rob), David Carey (Alison), and Grace Carey Bull (Scott), all of London. Dear sister of Betty Thompson, Walter Dancy (Helen) of London, and Arthur Dancy (Janice) of Toronto. Also loved very much by her grandchildren Courtney and Nicole Phelps, Noelle Carey, Ryan and Matthew Bull and her nieces and nephews.   • William Samuel James McKee

    MCKEE, William Samuel James….Bill passed away after a brief illness in the arms of his wife and high school sweetheart Alice (Deeley), their much loved granddaughter Annie by their side. Bill would have celebrated his 87th birthday on December 20th. Dear father of William F. McKee and Mary Anne Chamberlaine and her partner Don Chamberlaine all of London. Dear brother of Robert McKee of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also loved by his grandchildren Kerri, Anne Marie “Annie”, Ian and Sean (1973) and by 11 great-grandchildren Victoria, Savanna, Tristian, Ciera, Cameron, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Nicolas, Emily, Brandon and Mikayla. Predeceased by his sister Margaret Stock, his brother John McKee and his brother-in-law Conrad Stock. Bill served in the R.C.A.F. during WWII. His plane was shot down and crashed near the small village of St. Hippolyte, in Alsace Lorraine. The pilot Jimmy Watson was killed in the crash. The rest of the crew managed to evacuate the aircraft, and Bill was able to evade the Gestapo for three days and nights. He was eventually captured and taken P.O.W. Bill and Alice returned to St. Hippolyte in recent years. When he returned to civilian life he went to work for Bell Canada where he served for 41 years. Bill and Alice were blessed with 68 years of happiness together as well as the joy of loving, and being loved by two children, three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 3:00pm – 4:00pm (1 hour prior) at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, where the memorial service will be conducted in the chapel at 4:00pm. Private family interment at a later date. Cherished father of Glenda Kenney and her husband Cliff, Randy Wilton, Doug Wilton and his wife Elsie, Kathy McKay and her husband Chris and Kevin Wilton and his wife Valerie. Survived by his brother Chuck Wilton and his sisters Marion Roselle and Barb Limon and her husband Don. Proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Kenneth Wilton (1998). He will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.     Peacefully surrounded by his family in Oakville on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Brenda (Nelson) Brown for 22 years. Proud father of Peter Brown of Oakville and Cyndi Nelson of Mississauga. Cherished Papa of Lacey, Bryson, Antoine and Iesha. Dear son-in-law of Jenny. Also missed by his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Tom will also be missed by his beloved dog Sandy. The family would like to thank Dr. Pyle and her Palliative Care Team in Oakville. Tom was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.     TURNBULL, Bob…..Surrounded by his family at University Hospital, London on Monday, November 8, 2010, C. R. “Bob” Turnbull of London in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Helen (Singleton) Turnbull (1990). Loving father of Mark Turnbull and his wife Carolyn of Manitoba and Jane Walker and her husband Michael of London. Proud grandfather/”Gee” of Kelly, Lucas, Trevor (Melissa), Katie, Alex and Maggie and great-grandfather of Abby and Kendra. Predeceased by his sister Margaret Turnbull. Bob worked for London Free Press for 44years, retiring in 1985 as President. Bob and Helen moved to Grand Bend after his retirement, where he continued to volunteer at Friends of Pinery Provincial Park, Grand Bend Rotary, The Probus Club and the Huron Country Playhouse. He was honoured in September 2010 by the London City Press Club for his contribution to photography. Bob had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Cremation has taken place.
