Peacefully in her parent’s arms at SickKids Hospital, Toronto, on Sunday, November 7, 2010, Kate Alexander Hofer. Loving daughter of Shannon and Ian. Dear sister of Erik, Will and James. Cherished grand-daughter of Linda Wilson and Jak Wilson and Frank and JoAnne Hofer. Also loved by her uncles Sean, Adam (Sarah) and Ryan (Meg). Allan Douglas Haskett, 84, on November 5, 2010, departed this world to be with the Lord. Survived by his beloved wife Mary, daughters Kelsey and Dianne (Jack), granddaughter Annie and stepchildren and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His precious first wife of 53 years, Frances (Crone), predeceased him in 2001. Brother of the late James, Doreen and Donald Haskett. Suddenly at Victoria Hospital, London on Monday, November 1, 2010. Griffith Winfield Moore of London in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Florence “Flo” Moore. Dear father of Ted Moore and his wife Sallie of Milton and Nancy McCallum and her husband Neil of Oakville. Also loved by his grandchildren, Garth Moore, Derek and Andrew McCallum and Kelly Anne Green (Jef) and his great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alexis and Kaia. Predeceased by his daughter Patricia Moore, his grandson Keith Moore and his brother Leland Moore. Dear brother of Elithe Doan of Dunnville. Also survived by his nieces and nephews. Griff worked at Maple Leaf Mills for 49 years. He was Treasurer at St. Anne’s Anglican Church for 30 years and received the Bishop’s Award of Excellence from the Anglican Diocese of Huron. He was a Past Master of Thomas Hamilton Simpson Lodge No. 692 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 610 A.F. & A.M. and has been a Mason for over 50 years. He was a member of the RCAF and served during WW II. Griff was also a long time volunteer at the Brain Tumor Foundation and the London Regional Cancer Program. Friends will be received by the family from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. GILLIES, Thelma Irene…..Peacefully with her family by her side at Horizon Place, London on Friday, October 29, 2010, Thelma Irene (Heatherly) Gillies in her 104th year. She was married to her first husband, Stan Kelly, (an underwriter at London Life) for only a few years before he died in 1941. Two years later she married J. Harold Gillies, a widower with three children, Robert, Bruce and Nancy. They had one son John Harold Gillies Jr. They enjoyed many wonderful years together, living in London, and having the opportunity to golf at both the London Hunt Club and Sunningdale Golf and Country Club. They also traveled to many places as part of Harold’s position as President of Silverwood’s Dairy. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Yuhasz (husband Mike), and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thelma was born in London on May 16th, 1907. She attended Talbot Elementary school and then Central Collegiate. She was very athletic, being a key player on her basketball team, as well as a roller skater and ice skater; she played on the City ladies baseball team, and her love of baseball carried forward in her avid support of the Blue Jays, listening to the games on the radio. After grade 10, she went to Westervelt School to take a one year business and typing course. She was hired at John Purdom Hardware store on Dundas Street, where she was the bookkeeper and the cashier. Her next job was at the big new Thomas Furniture store on Richmond, below King; she was also a part time waitress at Boomer’s Ice Cream Parlour, and she later worked at London Life, when it was under construction, having offices above the Bank of Montreal at Richmond and Queen, before opening in 1927. Many thanks for the care and compassion of Geena and the girls in the west wing of Horizon Place; and a special thanks for the love shown by her dear friend Myrna Booth and family friend Gail Clements, Ruth Sans and her late husband Walter, Ruth Perkins, and many others. Thelma’s wish has been granted, and she has gone home. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the A. Millard George Reception Centre, 60 Ridout Street South, London where the funeral service will be conducted in the Reception Centre at 11:00 am. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London. At University Hospital, London with his wife and family members by his side, he died peacefully, on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, John “Jack” Illman of London in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Pauline (Cusack) Illman for 64 years. Loving father of Doug Illman and his partner Brenda of Kelowna, B.C. and Heather Illman-Laker and her husband Kevin of Lucan. Cherished grandpa of Jessica, Ashley, Tony, Andrew, Ashlee, Conan (Aimee), Larissa, Justin and Leigh-Anne and great-grandpa of Amber, Austin, Mackenzie, Ava, Vincent, Sienna and Jade. Dear brother of Bill Illman and his wife Sherry. Also missed by his many nieces and nephews. Jack was a veteran of WWII as a Radar Operator with the RCAF. He had a long career in Radio and Broadcasting, retiring at CFPL. He was a supportive and encouraging father, very loving and will hold a special place in our hearts. Cremation has taken place.
