    OSBOURNE, Vera Alydia

    Peacefully at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, London on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 Vera A. Osbourne in her 94th year. Beloved daughter of the late Isaiah and Olga (Forte) Osbourne. Vera is survived by many good friends. She is predeceased by her brother Dighton and her sister Gwendolyn. She was a teacher in St. Lucia before her training to become a nurse in England. Vera worked as a nurse in Thunder Bay and later at the Stratford General Hospital. She retired in 1982 and moved to London. Vera was a life long member of the Free Methodist Church and taught Sunday School at the Free Methodist Church in London. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 9:30 -10:30 am (1 hour prior) at the Free Methodist Church, 402 Commissioners Rd. W., London where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 10:30 am with Reverend Terry Mowat officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, London.   • Duart “Dewey” Whiteman

    WHITEMAN, Dr. Duart “Dewey” E….Peacefully at Grand Wood Park Retirement Residence, London on Monday, February 13, 2012, Dr. Duart Whiteman in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Barbara (Tilley) Whiteman for 60 years. Loving father of Robert Whiteman. Dear brother-in-law of Michael Trottier and Jane Tilley. Dear uncle of Bonnye McMillan of Florida. Predeceased by his son Douglas, and sister Delores. Graduated high school in Midland, Ontario. Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at University of Toronto in 1950. Dr. Whiteman was an active member of the Canadian and Ontario Dental Associations. He served as President of London and District Dental Association, the Western Ontario Dental Study Group and Rotary Club of London. He also taught at the Faculty of Dentisty, University of Western Ontario. He had a dental practice in London for close to 50 years. He was a member of the Alpine Ski Club and his enthusiasms included golf, water skiing, wind surfing, boating, scuba diving. He loved his life at their year-round chalet on Lake Eugenia. Duart and Barbara travelled to over 60 countries for holidays. The family would like to thank the staff at Grand Wood Park for their care and support and also thank special care-givers Shirley, Alma, Seena, and Rose.     Peacefully at Longworth Long Term Care, London on Saturday, February 11, 2012 Hazel R. A. (Clifford) Quellin in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Sydney Ernest Quellin (1998). Hazel is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Alice and brothers Ralph, Kenneth and Chester. Hazel was born in Putnam, Ontario to Robert and Alma Clifford. She enjoyed a lengthy career with the London Life Insurance Company and was a long time member of Metropolitan United Church, London. A special thank you to the staff at Longworth Retirement Residence, Grandwood Retirement Residence and Longworth Long Term Care (Daisy) for their exceptional care, patience and compassion over the past several years. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, February 16 , 2012 from 12:30 -1:30pm (1 hour prior) at the A.     At Parkwood Hospital, London on Friday, February 10, 2012. Hilda Ethel (McCormick) Mickle of London in her 91st year. Beloved wife of William “Bill” Mickle. Dear step-mother of Brian Mickle and his wife Lori of London, Tim Mickle of Leamington, David Mickle and his wife Liane of London and Jeff Mickle of London. Also loved by her grandchildren , her great-granddaughter, her sister-in-law Paulina McCormick of London and her daughter-in-law Marolyn Pilgrim. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Robert B. Pilgrim, her brothers Harold and Andrew, McCormick, her sister Phyllis Sussex and her brother-in-law Dr. Robert Sussex. Hilda founded the Maple Leaf Chapter of the 99’s and was East Canada Section Governor 1970- 1972.She also belonged to the Florida Grasshoppers, COPA and Silver Wings. She and Joan Corbett flew and completed the 1970 Angel Derby from Toronto Island to Nassau Bahamas. She also held a Commercial Pilots Licence, Instrument Rating and Instructors Course. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday at the A. Dear brother of William Candy (Elizabeth), Douglas Candy (Karen), Lynn Timmins (Thomas) and Ruth Reynard. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, uncles and cousins.     WHITMAN, Ardyth Anne (Stewart)…Peacefully at University Hospital, London, on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, Ardyth Whitman in her 81st year. Beloved wife of Dr. Clyde S. Whitman for 57 years. Dear mother of Karen Hoke of San Francisco, Reford Whitman and his wife Anne of Kelowna, BC and Scott Whitman of London. Loved grandmother of 6 grandchildren. Also survived by her daughter-in-law Dana Whitman. Predeceased by her son Dr. Stewart Whitman of Ottawa and her brother Sutherland Stewart (Heather). Ardyth was an R.N. and a graduate of the Montreal General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1953. She was recognized for her expertise in interior design and a gracious host. She was an ardent bridge player and was known to be involved in eight bridge clubs over many years. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at St. Annes Anglican Church Cemetery. At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral home visitation or service. Cherished grandmother of Michelle (Andrew), Scott (Kalen), Lori, Jennifer, Mark, Craig, Derek (Lauren), Jessica and Graeme. Loved great-grandmother of Benjamin and Nadia. Predeceased by her sister Margaret and brothers Stewart, Edward, James, Ripley and Thomas. Ella served with the the Y.W.C.A. Auxiliary Services during World War II in Canada, St. John’s, Newfoundland and London, England. Known to all as “Mrs. E.” Ella was an enthusiastic golfer, curler and bridge player.     It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on Monday, February 6, 2012 of Christopher Fulton in his 39th year. Loving husband of Teresa (Sommers) Fulton, together for 15 years. Will be missed and are waiting at the front door, by Maggie the Golden Doodle, Molly the Cockapoo, and Marley the cat, which made our family of five. Proud son of Margaret Dobson and her husband Noah of Victoria B.C. Predeceased by his father John Fulton. Beloved brother of Lesley Readings and the late Gig Reading (2008), Dave Fulton and his wife Charmain, all of London and Wendy Fulton and her partner James Verran of Galiano Island, B.C. Cherished son-in-law of Hank and Judy Sommers, greatly missed by his brother-in-law Marty Sommers and his wife Kelly of London. Dear uncle of Drew, Ben, Holly, Sydney, Brooke, Thomas, Quentin, and Olivia. Chris was an avid golfer, and had a healthy obsession with the Detroit Tigers. He was a self taught handyman always willing to help a stranger, friend or family member in need. But most importantly he was my partner in all things. The family would like to express their deepest sorrow for the other lives lost and our prayers are with the injured and all their families.
