Peacefully surrounded by her close friends on Saturday, January 12, 2013, Shirley (McLeod) Ball in her 77th year. KEARNS, Bill…..

Robert William “Bill” Kearns 78, of London, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Victoria Hospital, London. Bill was a loving and caring husband who is survived by his wife Beverly (Rhodes) Kearns. He was extremely proud of his four children, Bill Jr. of Ottawa, Neil and his wife Gwen of Whistler, Lauria and her husband Ryan and Robert all of London. He is survived by his brother Rod “Ferg” and adoring grandchildren Breanne, Riley and Krista as well as, several nieces and nephews. Bill was the son of Ferg and Janet Kearns, and was born and raised in Kincardine. He lived most of his life in London and spent summers at his cottage in Inverhuron. Bill enjoyed a career in journalism and broadcasting until he retired. He was passionate about historical research and authored four published books. He was known for his profound ability to reminisce and he will be remembered as a gentle man who could tell a delightful story with a dry wit. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1:30pm, at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Peacefully surrounded by her family at Kensington Village Nursing Home, London, on Friday, January 11, 2013, Elizabeth (McCall) Brown in her 94th year. Beloved wife of Bill Brown for 56 years. Loving mother of Esther Arango-Palencia and her husband David of Florida, Andrew Brown and his wife Julie of London, Christine DeKay and her husband Michael of London and Peter Brown of Biggar, Saskatchewan. Cherished grandma of Celia, Lisa, Emma, Matthew, Nathan, Michelle, Julia and Sarah. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Christina Reid and her brother David McCall. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Kensington for over 6 years of compassion and care, they showed for Elizabeth. BARKLEY, Martin Joseph….

Peacefully surrounded by his family at Victoria Hospital, London on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer, Martin Barkley in his 59th year. Beloved longtime partner of Rhyna and her daughters Shona (Todd) and Monique and their children Ashley, Jeremy, Anthony, Rhyna and Zoe. Loving son of Annie and the late James. Dear brother of Jim (Bridie), John, Tom (Irene), Vincent (Lynn), Marie (Harry), Sheila (Victor) and Stephanie (Jimmy). Also missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Northern Ireland. He recently retired from Ford after 25+ years. Friends will be received by the family on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 7-9 pm at the A. Peacefully with his daughter Nancy by his side at University Hospital, London, on Sunday, January 6, 2013, Earl Haskell of London, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Marion (McLeod) Haskell for 65 years. Loving father of Larry Haskell (Rosemary) of Shelburne and Nancy Edgar (Don) of London. Cherished grandpa of Paul Haskell (Laura), Grace Haskell, Kris McDougall (Elyse) and Kaila McDougall (Korey) and by his great-grandchildren Odin, Hunter, and Kelsey. Dear brother of Margaret Brown (the late Stewart) of Chatham, Marlene Cundle (Tom) of Florida and brother-in-law of Kenneth McLeod (the late Kaye) of Hamilton. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. Earl enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He was a highly respected Principal for many years in London. Surrounded by his family at Victoria Hospital, London on Thursday January 3rd, 2013 in his 70th year, Jerry passed on peacefully to glory. Beloved husband of Minnie (Postma) Buruma for 45 years. Loving father of Kim Zwart (Ben), Jodi Hendriksen (Mike) and Tyler Buruma (Krista). Proud Pake “grandfather” of Jonathan, Alex, Ethan, Austin, Ryan and Noah. Brother of Agnes Kaptein, Jake Buruma (Ann), Sandra Maaskant (John), Mieke Thompson (Doug). He is predeceased by brothers John and Frank. He will be sadly missed by Minnie’s siblings and their spouses. Visitation will be held at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Memorial service will be conducted at the Talbot Street Church, 531 Talbot Street, London, on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Jerry Hoytema officiating. There will be a private family interment prior to the memorial service in Woodland Cemetery, London. Dear father-in-law of Rosemary Best of British Columbia. Also loved by his grandchildren Amanda Marcinkiewicz and her husband Stephen, Heather Dale and her husband Jamey, Wendy Gordon, Zachary and Seth Bell, Christine, Michael, Allison and Brenda Bell and by his great-grandchildren: Tyler, Troy, Maddy, Emelia, Jacob, Jesse and Atticus. Ab proudly served during WWII in the Royal Canadian Navy as a signal man on board the Frigate Lanark in convoy duty on the north Atlantic. Ab was a teacher and head of the graphic arts department at Beal Secondary School for 33 years. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service. Proud nanny of Wayne, Jeff, Jacqueline, Arthur, Elizabeth, Adam, Rachel, Brady, Melissa and her great-grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Betty Morrow and Helen Laird.
