  • James Daugharty

    DAUGHARTY, James Edward Humphrey…

Entered final rest after a courageous 25-year battle against non-Hodgkin lymphoma and renal failure, with his wife by his side at Victoria Hospital (LHSC) London, ON, Monday, January 21st, 2013. James Daugharty in his 54th year. Beloved husband of Virginia. Loving father of Sarah (Emerson Lackey) and Chelsey. Dear brother of Kim Wickens, John (Sue Lennon – deceased) Daugharty, Jane (John) Lucas and Susannah Daugharty. Fun-loving uncle of nieces and nephews John, James, Elizabeth and Laura and adored by an abundance of friends. Jim was a grounded, genuine and loyal man who found happiness easily, for he valued the simple things: family, friendship, spontaneous fun and his hobby farm. He loved his farm! In his youth he rode horses bareback in the fields, and in later years, enjoyed weekends and farm parties with loved ones. A natural athlete, Jim played varsity basketball at Wilfrid Laurier University. Overcoming incredible odds, he married the love of his life, traveled often, saw his daughters through many milestones and maintained beautiful friendships. Although quiet, he stood strong in his principles and opinions. Jim courageously faced life’s challenges with dignity and humour and exhausted every avenue to beat the cancer. His commitment to live life to the fullest was awe-inspiring, and a testament to his beautiful character. Family and friends will celebrate his life for years to come. Jim’s family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff at LHSC and London Regional Cancer Program for their compassion and exceptional care, Dr. Xenocostas, Susannah Daugharty for her benevolent stem cell donation and all those who have supported us along the way – we couldn’t have gotten through this without you! A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home (60 Ridout Street South), at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Reception at the Highland Country Club (1922 Highland Heights). • Ruth Mae (nee Lawler) McCracken

    MCCRACKEN, Ruth…..

Peacefully, surrounded by love, Ruth Mae (nee Lawler) McCracken in her 91st year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Donald McCracken (2007) of 61 years. Loving mother of Bill (Elena), Judy (Bert), Jon and Nancy. Cherished grandmom of Treena, Christopher, Nicholas and Daniel (Elisa) and great-grandmom of Max. Survived by her brother William Lawler (the late Dolores). Also missed by sisters-in-law Marjorie McCracken (the late Duncan), Louise Larocque (the late David) and her many nieces and nephews. Born in Toronto, Ruth married the love of her life Donald after his return from duty as a RCAF navigator in WWII. Donald’s posting brought many moves throughout Canada and Europe. After saying good bye to the military life in 1971, Ruth and Don decided that London was where they wanted to plant roots. Mom explored her creative side when she joined the Lambeth Art Association in the 1970s and enjoyed painting ever since. She was a beautiful and modest painter. Ruth instilled a love of music in her “brats,” playing piano – Chopin was her favourite. Mom was the most caring, loving and generous soul, always concerned with the well being of others. She loved to laugh till everyone was in tears. Truly the world is a better place for all she touched and nothing will ever replace the void left in our hearts. Many thanks to all who helped her in her time of need, especially the Victoria Hospital staff in the ER and ICU. Surrounded by her four children and son-in-law, she passed the way she lived; with grace and dignity. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior (1-2pm) to the service, being conducted in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2pm. Cremation and private inurnment in Woodland Cemetery, London. • Dorothy (Jones) Rosso

    ROSSO, Dorothy….

At St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, St. Thomas on Friday, January 18, 2013, Dorothy Rosso in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Joseph R. Rosso. Loving mother of Kenneth J. Rosso and Donald Rosso all of London. Also loved by her granddaughter Ashley Rosso. Predeceased by her son Robert Rosso. Resisting to the very end, her mind was as witty and alert as ever. Her body however was no match and gave out. Those of you who knew Dorothy will remember her as a gentle soul, an unselfish giver, filled with a youthful passion for life and a spirit able to illuminate a room with her presence. Mum will be missed by all who she touched. Her dry British wit, her uncompromising ability to live in the moment, her awesome grilled cheese sandwiches, her unbridled childlike inquisitiveness and her genuine love of life! Most sad to see her go will be her husband Joe. Inseparable for 68 years of marriage, theirs is a true fairy tale romance; a love surely to endure beyond earthly constraints. When we remember Dorothy it should be with smiles. Our tears should be those of joy, not sadness. For it was truly a privilege to have known her. We will miss you! Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5-10pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Lambeth Branch No. 501, 7097 Kilbourne Road, London.
