With sad hearts we announce the sudden passing of Rob Cranston on Friday, September 4, 2015, at the age of 54. Beloved son of Brenda and David Cranston, dearly missed by his friends, family and the love of his life Lisa Lantz. A celebration of Rob’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 4- 8 pm, at the RiverBend Golf Club, 1200 Sandy Somerville Drive, London. Family and friends will gather to share our memories and stories on how he has touched our hearts and changed our lives forever. Helga (Paal) Lee
LEE, Helga…..
Helga passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015, in her 85th year, after a brief illness, at London Health Sciences Centre. She will be sadly missed by her partner of 37 years, Jack Harcourt and her much loved daughters Diana Yandt, and Terry Murdoch (Grant). Helga was predeceased by her parents, Stefan and Anna Paal, and son-in-law Barry Yandt.The family would like to thank her sisterhood of friends; Sylvia, Margaret, Cathy and Judy for their support and friendship with mom over many years. We know that they will miss her dearly; as will we. Helga was active in her retirement, and will be missed by her friends at Tai Chi, the ladies group from the Bob Hayward YMCA , as well as her wonderful neighbours and friends. Helga will be remembered by many from her 31 years of service at the Province of Ontario Savings Office, which she retired from in 1992.
The family would like to thank the doctors and medical staff from the Victoria Hospital Critical Care Trauma Unit, and the 6th floor Geriatric ACE unit, for the care and kindness shown to our mother during her brief stay with them. Visitation will be held at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street, South, London, on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 10am – 11am, where a Memorial Service will take place at 11am. Private Family interment will follow. Reverend Herbert Wonfor
WONFOR, Reverend Herbert ….
Rev. Herbert Wallace Wonfor (1924-2015). With sadness, the family of Herb Wonfor announces his death on September 3rd at his late residence, Grand Wood Park, London. Herb was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Brown) for 58 years. His memory will be cherished by his five children: Janet O’Brien (Kevin), Ruth Beggs, John (Siva Swaminathan), Katherine, and Alison Gibbs (Stephen) and his grandchildren: Andrea and Jeffrey Beggs, Isaac and Rachel Gibbs, Gabriel O’Brien (Meaghan), Jeffrey O’Brien and Swetha Wonfor and great-granddaughter, Addison O’Brien. He is survived by a brother-in-law James Brown and his wife Eunice of Nepean, ON. Herb was born in Montreal, the son of the late John and Gertrude Wallace Wonfor. He was predeceased by his only brother John and sister-in-law Pat. Herb was educated in the Protestant School System in Westmount, QC and at McGill University where he received degrees in Science, Commerce and Divinity. In 1952 he was ordained a minister of the United Church of Canada and during 38 years of pastoral ministry served congregations in Peace River, AB; Ottawa; Hudson, QC; Clinton, Maidstone, Windsor and Durham. He also served the United Church through his contribution in various committees at the Presbytery, Conference and General Conference level. Upon retirement in 1990, Herb and Margaret moved to London where they participated as volunteers in church and community life. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Grand Wood Park for care and kindness over the past few months and also to the palliative care team of the V.O.N. whose expertise and compassionate care gave us strength for the trials of the past few weeks. Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 pm on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street, South, London. A service of thanksgiving for Herb’s life will be held at Wesley-Knox United Church, 91 Askin Street, London on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11 am. Interment will be held at the Tiverton Cemetery at a later date. Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, Marilyn (Stone) Rudd in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Rudd (2009). Cherished mother of Jennifer of London and the late Janet (2006), Robert and his wife Anna and her much loved granddaughter Sienna all of Toronto. Dear sister of Franklin Stone of London. Marilyn will be greatly missed and remembered by family and friends. Alma Perelea Cook
COOK, Alma Perelea….
Alma Percelea Cook, loving wife, partner and parent passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at University Hospital in London, Ontario. Alma met and married Carman Cook in Los Angeles and followed her husband across the country to build a new life with the man she loved. What followed was the happiest of before, during and ‘ever-after’ happy endings. Married for 62 years, Alma and Carman raised their daughter Joey and son Anthony and saw them both married, happy and successfully pursuing their own goals and dreams. Alma and Carman built Cook Steel Enterprises and created Cook’s Public Storage, the first self-storage business in all of Canada. They were together every step of the way, partners in the truest sense. Alma graduated High School in 1942 and immediately went to work building airplanes at North American Aircraft in California until the end of WW2. She moved on to become the first woman Shift Boss at Technicolor when they were the gold standard in the industry, helping create some of Hollywood’s most enduring classic color films. Her life was filled with hard work, struggle and accomplishment. Full of shared adventures and the love of family and friends. Alma is survived by her husband, Carmen Edgar Cook, her children Joey and her husband John, Anthony and his wife Mary, grandson Cole, his wife Traci and her great grandchildren Otto and Luna. Friends will be received on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 7-9 pm, at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 3pm. Hanna Spark
SPARK, Hanna (Göbel)….
Passed away peacefully on August 29, 2015 in her 98th year at McGarrell Place, London. Hanna was born in Anneburg, Germany to Albin and Paula Göbel. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe, and one sister, Elfriede. She studied Nursing and worked in Germany, England and Canada. She met and married Joe Spark in 1956 in Fort William, Ontario. She was a world traveller and loved to entertain her many friends. She will be missed by her godchild Ingrid Stapff, Germany and by her dear friends Christel, Norma, Reinhild, Hella, Margot and Dina, who visited her regularly in the Nursing Home. Special thanks to Dr. Karen Lo and the staff at McGarrell Place for their kindness and compassion. Hanna was a faithful member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1960. Peacefully at her residence on Monday, August 24, 2015, Rita (Mayman) Hutt, of Ingersoll and formerly of London in her 77th year. Beloved wife of Barry Hutt for 48 years. Loving mother of Ian Hutt (Lori) of London and Rebecca Ayer (Rick) of Winchester. Proud nana of Kindael Hutt (Rob Fraser), Emma Ayer and great-nana to Grace Fraser. Dear sister of Walter Mayman (Michelle), Martin Mayman (Margaret), Therese Newman (David) and sister-in-law of Audrey Mayman, Carol Mayman, Casey Nirschl , Wayne Hutt (Gayle) and Paul Hutt (Laura). Predeceased by her brothers Peter, Paul and Jerry and her brother-in-law Don. Dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews and her longtime friend Ann Nicol. Cherished pets Tasha and Tyson.
