James “Jamie” Duncan
DUNCAN, James ….
Unexpectedly at home, on Monday, January 15, 2018, James “Jamie” passed away at the age of 54. Beloved husband of Dottie for 22 years. Proud, loving and active father of Riley, Jayden and Matthew Duncan. Son of Grace and the late George Duncan. Cherished brother of Patricia (Lyle) Pollock and Ron (Heather) Duncan. Missed by many nieces and nephews. Jamie graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Marine Biology. He was a publicly recognized leader at the Nature Conservancy of Canada since April 1995. It has made Jamie proud to bring awareness, to protect and conserve this magical place called Canada for future generations. Jamie was a passionate coach to his sons and teammates with the Oakridge Hockey Association. Jamie enjoyed spending many summers at Killarney Provincial Park. Friends are welcomed for visiting on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A service honouring James will take place in the chapel on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 1 pm. Peacefully, with his family by his side at home on January 14, 2018, Gordon Brodie passed into the presence of his Lord in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Ruth A. (Smith) Brodie for 63 years. Cherished father of Rose Anne Giraldi and her husband Marcel of Mississauga, Philip Brodie and his wife Doris of Bolton, Louise Garnham and her husband Timothy of London and Barbara Reynolds and her husband Colin of Acton. Dear grandfather of Julia Badgley and her husband Mike, Andrew Giraldi and his wife Karen, Mark Giraldi and his wife Tia, Daniel Brodie and his wife Santanna, Benjamin Brodie and his wife Danielle, Lisa Eliasen and her husband Jesse, Luke Garnham, James Reynolds and his wife Joanna, Jacob Reynolds and Joseph Reynolds and great-grandfather of Zachary, Patrick, Matthew, Zadie, Gabriel, Micah, Stefan, Sofia, Logan, Gia, Blake and Jason. Special brother of Thomas Brodie and his wife Joan of South Ireland and brother-in-law of Margaret Brodie of Sarnia, William “Bill” Smith and his wife Mary of Niagara Falls and Margaret Smith of Jackson, MI. Predeceased by his brother Vernon “Bud” Brodie and his brother-in-law James N. Smith. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Houghton and dear friend of the late Jim Hanna. Treasured mother of Allison Welch. Caring sister to Beverley Gale and his wife Barbara the late George Gale and his wife Eleanor. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Florence Gale. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews and many friends. Many thanks for the support from her neighbours who have been very helpful over the years. JEFFERESS, Constance Mary 1929 – 2018…
Peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Parkwood Hospital in her 89th year. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Jefferess and sister Diane (Jefferess) Robinson and her brother-in-law Terry Robinson. Will be missed by her nephew Jeffrey Robinson (Catherine) nieces Janet Robinson (Sam Crozier) and Barbara Robinson; and her Grandnieces and nephew Alexandra Robinson, Joshua Robinson (Emma) and Alison and Gillian Crozier. She will also be missed by her close friends and the people of St. James Westminster Anglican Church. Connie spent many years working as a commercial artist, after which she taught in the Art Department at H. B. Beal Secondary School for 24 years. She was active on many committees at St. James Westminster Anglican Church including 25+ years with the Altar Guild and the Property Committee. After retirement, years were spent working with the Canadian Embroiderers’ Guild as well as producing liturgical embroideries for churches throughout Southwestern Ontario. Connie was also an active member of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild. The family wishes to extend a thank you to Dr. Catherine Faulds and staff at Grandwood Park for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held at a later date. SANDALL, James Edward Charles… James Edward Charles Sandall, 87, of London, ON passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg, NS. He will be missed greatly by his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jon Rawdon and his two grandsons, Zachary and Joshua. Survived by his brother Harold (Jackie), sister Wanda Tupholme (Ron), his sister-in-law Helen Green and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Penny (Jan. 27, 2009), his son Jeff (Feb. 8, 2017) and his sister Jean (Jun. 23, 2017). Jim touched so many people not only with his work at his day job at Canada Post but with his dedicated involvement throughout the years at the CUPW, the Credit Union and most recently as a past president of the Heritage Club. He was also very involved as a property manager of Mount Zion United Church for several years. Visitation will be held one hour prior (12-1pm) to the funeral service on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Cremation has taken place. Peacefully at Extendicare, London on Thursday, January 11, 2018, Marie (Dixon) Hartry of London in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Hartry (2002). Loving mother of Marla Nicholls (Barry). Cherished grandma of Matt Nicholls (Jackie Gough) and Alyssa Nicholls. Dearly missed by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Clara (Martene) and Fred Dixon, her sisters Dorothy Adams (Rett), Adeline Elliott (Bill), Wynne Patterson (Don), dear sister-in-law of Mildred Skaarupp (Harry), Victor Hartry (Mary), Ralph Hartry (Alice), Dick Hartry (Connie) and Doris Grant (George). Marie and Arthur owned and operated Hartry Foods in Old South for many years. The family would like to thank Victoria Hospital and Extendicare for their tremendous care provided. Dora Alferink (Nee Kaufmann) peacefully passed away surrounded by love on January 8, 2018. Dora was soft spoken, patient, and had a tender heart. She was blessed with a large and loving family and she will always be warmly remembered. Dora was born to the late Paul and Wilhelmine Kaufmann. She is now reunited with them, along with her daughter Susan Zender, brother Paul Kaufmann, sister Gertrude Storer, and brother-in-law Don Nowack. She will be greatly missed by her husband Bernie Alferink, son Philip (Linda) Alferink, son-in-law Carl Zender, her grandchildren Kevin, Cassandra, Sierra, Jamieson and Dustin, and by her treasured great grandchildren Owen and Lina.
