Robert Warren Shimer
SHIMER — It is with incredible sorrow that Lois, Jil, Ben and Nicki, Dylan, Izaac and Levi announce the death of their beloved and loving husband, father and Poppa, Robert Warren Shimer on Monday, December 6, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, at age 61. He also leaves to grieve his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jim & Carolyn Kirkland, Gordon and Diane Kirkland, as well as nieces Catherine, (Andy, Megan, Carter,) Susan and nephews Darryl, Michael and Bradley. He was pre-deceased by his infant son Jon-Mikel (1972). Bob was a gentle, compassionate man who spent his life teaching, guiding and nurturing, whether in his chosen profession as an educator at the Thames Valley Board of Education or as a volunteer at Huron Church Camp, for almost 30 years. He cut his own path in life with strength and dignity taking it wherever it lead him. His deep faith allowed him to be unafraid to travel off the well trodden roads and he held himself above no others. Bob had more friends than any man could hope to deserve and he spent his last days communicating his love with anyone who crossed the threshold of his room. He wanted to make sure that we knew how special we were and what our presence in his life meant to him. His only regret was – This is happening a lot faster and a lot sooner than I had expected.” Too fast and too soon for us as well”
