Beloved husband of the late Grace (Jackson) Henderson and the late Margaret (Walker) Henderson. Dear father of Carol Vasquez and her husband Frank Manuel of London and Patricia Warren and her husband James of Priddis, Alberta. Dear brother of Mary Ross of London. Ever proud father of Tyler, and Gaelen. Loving son of Jerry and Patricia Olinski. Cherished son-in-law of Alma and Bruce Pufall. Lovingly remembered by his siblings: Paul and Carol, Patrick and Cathy, Mary-Kay and John (Chomitz), Michael and Elenoare. Wonderful brother-in-law of Brenda and Alfred, Dan and Bonnie Pufall. Unique uncle of nieces: Robin, Meaghan, Chris, Lisa, Katie, Beth; and nephews: Jon, Andrew, Craig, and Stefan. Great uncle to Elliott and Harrison. There will be no visitation prior to the service.     On Friday, February 1st, 2008 at the Dearness Home, London, Douglas McKenzie Davies in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Sheila Margaret (Whittemore) Davies. Dear father of Ian Whittemore Davies and his wife Kay, and Kenneth Gordon Davies and his wife Sheila all of London. Loving grandfather of Julianna, Keefer, Joshua and Tylere Davies. Also loved by his sister Barbara Vengshoel of Coquitlam, BC. Douglas was a Professor of Biology and Entomology at McMaster University (Hamilton) from 1951 until his retirement. During his career Doug published a large volume of research papers primarily on black flies, and also authored a number of books. Doug and his wife Sheila were tireless volunteers, philanthropists and supporters of humanitarian causes, children’s education and wildlife conservation. Doug was an adventurer and loved to travel. In his lifetime, he visited many parts of the world including the Far East, most of Europe, Greenland, the Holy Land, Scandinavia, Russia, the Caribbean, and South America (including the Galapagos). His favorite place was the family cottage on Lake Muskoka. Doug generously supported the arts, children’s charities, his church, and in particular the founding of the Children’s International Learning Centre in Hamilton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to a memorial service which will be held at Empress United Church, 75 Blackfriars Street, London, on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Lorenzo G. Ramirez Jr. officiating.
