    Peacefully with her children by her side on Sunday October 12, 2008 Alice May (Gadd) Shortreed in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Harry Shortreed (1993). Predeceased by her infant daughter Barbara (1958) and her brother Leonard (2001). Loving mother of Robert of Edmonton and Joan (Dave) Walsh of Dorchester. Dear grandmother of Andrew and Jeffery Walsh. Also survived by her sister Esme (Don) McLean of Estevan,SK, brother Edgar (Diane) Gadd of Campbell River, BC and sister-in-law Isabelle Yeo of Cambridge. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday October 14, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street, South, London. The complete funeral service will be conducted from Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, 111Elmwood Avenue, London on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kevin Steeper officiating. Survived by his wife Cindy, his son Corey, his step-son Chad, his mother Ruth Haddow, his brothers Jamie and his wife Brenda, and Doug and their families, his sisters Robin and Melanie and her husband Steve, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Allen and Maureen Novak, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sherry and Kevin Whiting. Also survived by his many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place.   • Kenneth William Barrie

    BARRIE – Kenneth William, C.L.U. June 16, 1925 – September 27, 2008 passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at University Hospital, London Ontario at the age of 83 years. After five months in and out of hospital Ken succumbed Saturday morning to an embolism. Ken graduated from Kemptville Agricultural School (KAS) in 1948 and joined International Harvester Company as service supervisor in Ottawa, Hamilton and London. While in London Ken joined the services of London Life Insurance Company in 1962 gaining his Chartered Life Underwriters in two years. In 1992 he retired and enjoyed living on Ridgewood Crescent in southwest London. He leaves Patricia Joy Wright, wife of fifty-seven years; his sons Bruce (Eneta) of Calgary, Alberta and Dale (Deborah) of St. Albert, Alberta as well as his grandchildren George, Daniel, Julie, Sarah, and James. He is also survived by his brother John (Nancy) Barrie of Peterborough, Ontario and his sister Laurie (John) Barrie Chevalier of Bancroft, Ontario and ten nieces and nephews. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at A. MILLARD GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, at 60 Ridout Street, South, London, Ontario from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Betty was the daughter of the late Fannie and Elzie Morrow, wife of Fred Dreyer, mother of Anne Dreyer and her husband Michael Weatherill of Horsham, England and Ted Dreyer and his wife Johanna of Waterloo, grandmother of Amelia and sister of Laura Adams of New Liskeard. Betty is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Pat Friesen (2002). Cremation has taken place.
