    Peacefully, with family at her side, on Monday, January 25, 2010, Connie Males in her 95th year. Devoted wife of the late Albert Frederick “Bert” Males (1949). Beloved mother of Heather and Doug Ellis of London, Dennis and Gail Males of St. Thomas and Lee and Debra Males of London. Cherished “Nan” to Michele, Scott, Melissa, Kerrie, Jason and Graham and eight great-grandchildren. “Con” will be sadly missed by her faithful and loving sister Evelyn Jenkins (Aunt Babe) and her nieces and nephews, Innis and Debbie Jenkins of Kempville, Susan and Jim Kelly, Cathy Jenkins, Mark and Grace Jenkins all of London. She was the daughter of the late Cuthbert and Florence (Wilson) Whitlock. Predeceased by by her brother Leslie “Tim” Whitlock (1944 – Operation Market Garden) and sister Margaret Lewis (1992). A life-long resident of West London, and widowed at age 34, she devoted her life to raising her children, and worked until retirement in the pharmacy at the Langford and Ruckle drug stores. She was an avid gardener and proudly displayed her green thumb at her Johnston Street home of 70 years. The family acknowledges and thanks the many staff at the Dearness Home who cared for her with tenderness and understanding. Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A private family service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, January 28th followed by interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London.     Peacefully at University Hospital, London on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, Gordon H. Baird of London in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary H. (Wilson) Baird (1994) and predeceased by his first wife Peggy. Dear step-father of Todd Spurrell of Montreal. Gordon will be missed by his numerous friends. Gordon was Past President and current 1st Vice President of 427 (London) Wing, R.C.A.F. Association; Past Committee Chairman of 27 (City of London) Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch No. 263 and A.N.A.F. – Branch No. 229. He worked for Gillette Canada for over 50 years and volunteered at Parkwood Hospital. Gordon was a great “baseball cap fisherman.” Friends will be received by the family from 3-5 and 7-9pm on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the A.     It is with great sadness we announce the death of a true gentleman, Hugh Shearer who passed away, Sunday, January 17, 2010, peacefully at home. Loving husband of the late Caroline Evelyn (Winslow), September 24, 2009. Dearest father of Judy (John) Davison of Sault Ste Marie. Grandfather of Jamie, Michael and Angela Davison of Sault Ste Marie. Great-grandfather of Joshua, Tyler, Breanna Rose and Jonathan. Hugh is predeceased by his brothers, Archie, Fred and John and his sister Rita. Hugh is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Hugh served with the R.C.A.F. in WW II from 1941 to 1946 and had completed two tours (58 sorties) with Bomber Command, flying with 424 and 405 Pathfinders squadrons. His missions included the invasions of Sicily, Italy and Normandy, and he was awarded the “Distinguished Flying Cross”. Hugh is a member of R.C.A.F.A. Wing 427, a member of King Solomon Lodge No. 378 A.F.& A.M. and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 533. At Hugh’s request there will be no funeral home visitation or service. Cremation to follow a private family viewing. Cherished father of Charlotte Oldham (Bill) of London and Carolyn Bradley (Ian) of Oakville. Proud grandfather of Timothy Oldham (Karen) and Jana Lyn Oldham (1993), of London; Kate Carroll (Ryan), Patrick Bradley (Trisha) and Jamie Bradley (Jamie Trenholme), all of Toronto. Gramps will also be missed by his great-grandchildren Kurtis and Brayden Oldham. Predeceased by his son Robert (1947) of London. Bill served with the invasionary forces at Juno Beach in WWII.
