SERSHALL: Wayne…Suddenly in Wittier, Alaska on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 Wayne Sershall of London in his 66th year. Beloved husband of Sandra (Ashton) Sershall. Dear father of Ian Sershall and his wife Donna. Dear brother of Carol Moore and her husband Brian. Dear brother-in-law of Sean Ashton and his wife Dar. Also loved by his several nieces and nephews and a great-niece. Pre-deceased by Harry and Gwen Sershall. Friends will be received by the family at the A. Peacefully after a courageous battle, at Victoria Hospital, London on Monday July 11, 2011. Erma Isabella (McConnell) Pritchard of London in her 91st year. Loving mother of Holly Pritchard who will miss her deeply. Only daughter of the late Reverend William and Irene McConnell. Loving aunt of Patricia Shapcott and Bob Pritchard. She will be missed by her many friends. Erma was a dedicated member and elder of St. Lawrence Presbyterian Church, served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps during World War II and was a retired teacher with the London Board of Education. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the A. Most loved mother of Sandra Gosnell and Susan and Gary Day. Dear half-sister of George (Barb) and Jimmy (Jean) Acres, Evelyn Maginnis (Art) and Lois Zilke (Alan). Also survived by her grandchildren Andrea Neilson (Gareth), Kate Chadwick (Andy) and Erin O’Leary (Ryan O’ Driscoll) and great grandchildren Austin and Hannah Neilson and Adam and Myles Chadwick as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by Norman and Grant Acres and half sister Jackie Weiler (Raymond). Special thanks to the staff at Kensington Village, especially Darlene, Phyllis and Roger. DREIMANIS, Aleksis… At University Hospital, London on Friday, July 8, 2011 Aleksis Dreimanis, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Ontario, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Anita (Kana) Dreimanis for 69 years. Dear father of Mara Love and Robert Love of Tofino, BC and Aija Downing and James Beck of London. Dear grandfather of Marc Downing and Jenny Francis of Toronto, Andrew Downing and Yesim Tosuner of Toronto, Maia Love and Eesmyal Santos-Brault of Vancouver, BC and Matthew Love of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Great-grandfather of Eva Love of Nanaimo, BC. Also survived by friends in Latvia, other countries of Europe, North America and Australia. Predeceased by his grandson Toby Love (1983). Aleksis Dreimanis was an internationally recognized expert on Canadian glacial deposits. He received honorary doctoral degrees from the University of Waterloo, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Latvia. He published over 200 papers, most recently in 2009 at age 95. Although his academic and professional accomplishments set the highest possible standard, it was his generosity and humility that his colleagues and friends found remarkable. From a University of Western Ontario teaching award: “Aleksis Dreimanis is a highly committed man – committed to his family, his garden, and his Latvian heritage, and … to his discipline, his students, his colleagues, and his university which he served so well.” He was most proud of being the recipient of the highest award of Latvia, the Three Star Order, for his contribution as a scientist to Latvian culture. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 10:00 – 11:00 am (1 hour prior) at the A.
