Loving father of Kimberley Dwight (Roald Bus), Lynn Dwight (David McFarland), Bob Groom and Bill Groom. Cherished grandfather of Ashland, Madison, Matthew, Jackie (Adam), Dana (Adam), Justin, Sebastian and Clair. Proud great-Grandfather of Julia and Fayth. At Meadow Park Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, Barbara Anne (Marshall, Brooks) McKay in her 67th year. Survived by her husband Bob, and brothers Harold (Dorothy) Marshall and Ernest (Sharen) Marshall of London. Barbara’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Connie Lima, for 13 years of love and caring for Barbara’s needs. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Burlington Ontario. A celebration of Barbara’s life will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations would be appreciated to the RESPITE CARE FUND of the London-Middlesex Alzheimer’s Society Community Fund. This specific fund was originally started in Barbara’s name, and proudly has aided many caregivers in obtaining of much needed respite care for their loved ones. Promoted to Glory on Thursday, August 28, 2013, Doris Beard in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Eddy Beard. Loving mother of Donna (Roger) Lussier of Plymouth, MA., Michael (Linda) Chisholm of Mississauga, Ted (Jane) Beard of Montreal, Janet (George) Lanktree of Burlington, and Bob (Judi) Beard of Vancouver. Cherished grandmother of Kimberly, Benjamin, Nicholas, Kurtis and Deren. Proud great-grandmother of David and Michael. Missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Doris gave many years of service to the Salvation Army and was very active in the League of Mercy, Bible Study, and Outreach programs. She loved spending time with family and friends and was a true blessing. Loving mother of Bill (Cathy), Doug (Christine Pampel) and Ann (Robyn Harvey). Cherished grandmother of Andrew (Simone), Matthew (Dyane), Olivia Dewolf, and Zai Pitman. Proud great-grandmother of Cooper, Peyton, Hannah, Benjamin, and Holly. Born and raised in Windsor, Dorothy graduated from University of Toronto and worked as a teacher until her marriage. As a young bride, she moved to Sarnia. She had a passion for reading history and current affairs and for travelling to the places she studied. She enjoyed live theatre, her volunteer work with the IODE earning scholarship money for young women,and her involvement in the Sarnia Central United Church Allegro Group. Her greatest joy, however, was reserved for her family. Her interest and pride in each of us was encouraging and a gift we will always remember. Cremation has taken place. Cherished Babushka of Matt (Jillian), Vanya (Joanna), Illya (Rudy), Tikhon, Xenia, Daniel, Mark, Marina, Christopher and predeceased by her grand-daughter Galina. Proud great-Babushka of Isabella, Isaac and Elizabeth. On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, peacefully at Chartwell Riverside Retirement Residence, London, in her 97th year. Born in Clinton, Ontario, Sadie was the beloved wife for more than 70 years of Alec Whitfield (d. April 2013). Loving mother of Carol of Halifax, and David (Judy) of Toronto. Proud and loving grandmother of Katy and Emma (Remi). Survived by her brother Robert Elliott (Tavistock), and by sisters-in-law Lily Duerkop (Toronto) and Dora Gover (Thorndale), and brother-in-law Alan Whitfield (London). Predeceased by brothers James and Norman, and sister Lillian Mercer. A caring aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, Sadie will be missed by many special friends whom she loved dearly. She was a lifetime member of the U.C.W. at Centennial United Church and a member of Wesley-Knox United Church, London. Special thanks to Dr. Maria Parent and the EDITH palliative care team of VON PSWs and Nurses who supported our mother at the end of her life’s journey. Visitation will be held at the A. Loving mother of Tom Trestain and his wife Judy Heikell of Toronto. Cherished grandmother of Sander Trestain of Abu Dhabi, UAE. Predeceased by her daughter Jane Trestain (2012). Marian was a Registered Nurse and valued member of St. Anne’s Anglican Church – Byron. She was an incredible cook, avid gardener and enjoyed many summer on Manitoulin Island.
