    It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Kathleen (Kay) Kish (Humphrey) in her 84th year at the Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care (St. Mary’s Hospital), London on Thursday, October 31st, 2013. She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years Michael Kish Sr. Loving mother of Cathie (Perry) Kish and Michael (Larysa) Kish Jr. Cherished grandmother of Jill (Brett) Kish. Dear sister of Marion McNaughton of Trenton. Predeceased by her parents Mary and Fred Humphrey, her sisters Eileen Clinkersmith and Dolly Hewitt; brothers Stan, Frank, Harry, Tom, Bert, and Charles Humphrey. Kay was known as a beautiful person inside and out and was a talented woman and mother who loved sewing, quilting and painting. The family would like to thank the first floor nursing staff at Mount Hope for their care and kindness to our mother. In accordance with Kay’s wishes cremation has taken place. Survived by her daughter Valerie Quant and her husband Hank Halliday of Ailsa Craig. Dear aunt of Elayne St. Pierre and Frank Garton. Edna will be missed by her extended family in Woodstock. Loving father of Ursula (Ron) Kowalski, Cornelia (Mario) Dizazzo, Marilyn (Jim) McManus and Katheleen Coleman. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 8 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Armin Christ and Family and Elizabeth Zinnow and family of Germany.     BASS, Robert Walden…

    Bob passed away peacefully at his home in London ON, on October 24, 2013 at the age of 95. Beloved father of Penelope Bass (Udo Korte), Bob Bass (Janet), Brenda Bass (Doug Petty), and Sylvia Bass West (Bruce West); proud grandfather of Jessie Bass-West, Michael Bass-West, Christopher Bass and Mary Claire Bass. Loving companion of Mrs. June Bullock. Predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Storey), his second wife Faye (McLean), and his brother Jim, his sister Jean and step-daughter Anne. Also missed by the McLean family: Bruce and Linda and their children Abby and J.B. , Bill Hudson and his sons Matthew and Christopher, and Ross McLean. Remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and colleagues. Bob was a career educator with a strong commitment to the public education system. During his long career, he taught in many locations across Ontario from Rainy River to Windsor and was frequently recognized and greeted by his former students. Bob ended his career at Althouse College at the University of Western Ontario, his alma mater (1938), where he helped launch a new generation of teachers. He was particularly proud of initiating the successful PEMSTEP program for educating Physical Education, Math and Science teachers. Bob served as a navigator in the Canadian Air Force (Bomber Support over Europe) during WWII. While completing his training in Nassau in the Bahamas, his plane crashed into the ocean on D-Day (June 6, 1944), giving him a life membership in the Goldfish Club. Bob’s childhood on a farm outside of Thedford, ON was a happy and healthy one. He often said that the most important lessons he learned in life were taught to him by his parents on the farm. Bob’s retirement was long and fulfilling; he was energetically involved as a volunteer, world traveler, antique dealer, tennis player, collector, cottage-lover and watercolourist. He was a master of Bridge, Cribbage and Rook. Bob’s legacy is his loving support of family, friends and community. Friends will be received by the family 1-4pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm.   • Donald Carrier

    Donald Carrier…..

    The death of Donald Carrier occurred suddenly in London, Ontario on Monday October 21st, 2013 at the age of 81. Born in Lorne NB, he was the son of the late Francis (Frank) & Laura (Francoeur) Carrier. He was predeceased by his wife, Cora (Levesque). Donald is survived by his sons, Dean of Montreal QC; Blaine (Connie) of London ON, Terrance (Ofelia) of Montreal QC; and his daughter, Brenda Carrier (Peter Marenghi) of Kapuskasing ON; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; his brothers Joe (Florence), Murray (Dorothy); and his sister, Eva Gallen (Herman); as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his siblings: Elric, Elias, Abraham, Nora, Edgar, Stanley, Ethel, Allison, Kenneth, Leo and Eldon. Donald worked for over thirty years as a miner with Noranda Mines. He began working for Gaspé Copper Mines at a young age, and stayed with the company when it became Mines Gaspé. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and frequently referred to his job as having been one of the best jobs a man could have. He raised his family in the town of Murdochville QC, and kept fond memories of the town and his life there. Upon his retirement he relocated to Belledune NB and in more recent times he lived with his son, Blaine, in London.
    His funeral will be held from St. Maria Goretti Church, Lorne Saturday October 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. with visitation Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Lorne Funeral Parlour.     Passed away peacefully at Chateau Gardens, on Saturday, October 19, 2013, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Looie Schmehl. Dear mother of Pat Pooley of Kitchener, Deb Peckham (Dan Shack) of London and Jon (Lynn) Schmehl of Cambridge. Loved by her grandchildren Tracy Pooley, Mark (Clare) Schmehl, and Matt (Cheryl) Schmehl and her great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Connor, Audrey, Logan and Tyler. Surrogate grandmother to Laird, Laura and Hugh. Predeceased by her sisters Marion McLeod and Laura Laird, her brothers Weldon, Oscar and Stuart Judd and her niece Lynn McLachlin.     Suddenly at University Hospital, London on Sunday, October 13, 2013, Wilmer Tunks of Komoka in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Barbara (Walne) Tunks for 54 years. Cherished father of Heather Davidson (Harry Martin). Predeceased by his son Bob Tunks (2005). Loving grandfather of Austin. Dear brother of Marilynne Bragg (Bob) and brother-in-law of Eric Walne (Mary) and Helen Renaud. Also missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Ivan Tunks and Ray Tunks. He will be sadly missed by his dog Emma and cat Sassy. Wilmer was a very social and friendly person, who had many friends within the workforce and socially. His hobbies included woodworking; he was an avid Nascar fan and attended Delaware Raceway for many years. Wilmer enjoyed the Little Beaver Restaurant and “Tims”. A Masonic Service under the auspices of Doric Lodge No. 289 A.F. & A. M. will be conducted on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 6:30pm, (open to the public) at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Visitation will take place from 7-9pm following the Masonic Service.
