Jean McCallum
McCallum, Jean (née Evans)
Born in 1917 to parents Charlotte and Leonard Evans, Jean passed peacefully on January 11, 2015. Predeceased by her parents, husbands George A. Dodd and James A. McCallum, son William Dodd, sisters Mildred, Mae, Dorothy, and brothers Lorne and John.
Lovingly remembered by her children Betty Dodd and her children Peter Mosney (Janet), Ginger Mosney (Doug Ross) and Jonathan Mosney (Elizabeth); James Dodd (Suzanne) and their children Caroline Georgiades (Andrew), Lise Johnson (Paul); the late William (Lisa) Dodd’s children Matthew (Kathleen) and Anna Dodd, sister-in-law Helen, as well as her great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Loving step-mother to the McCallum family: Bonnie (Jim), Betty (Al) and the late John (Judy) and Sallee and their families.
Jean was raised on the family homestead in Iona Station, Ontario, and was a graduate of London Normal School. To all who knew her, Jean was always kind, supportive and loving.
Family and friends are invited to join together on Thursday, January 15 for visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service and celebration of life at 11a.m. and reception, all at Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Interment is to be held at Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery at Elm and Sunset in St. Thomas.
The family thanks St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph and their long-term care staff members and offer a particular thank you to grandson Peter Mosney and his wife Janet for ensuring that Jean’s final months were happy, safe and comfortable.

Peacefully surrounded by her family at Middlesex Terrace, Delaware on Sunday, January 11, 2015, Eileen (Brown) Bear of London in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Walter Bear (1994). Cherished mother of Darla Burch (Harry) of Komoka and Brian Bear (Cathy) of London. Proud grandma “Granny” of Shane (Melanie), Mike (Tamara), Jason (Cathy), Jeff and Scott (Jodi) and great-grandchildren Hunter, Jayden, Rhys, Justin, Jacob, Alyssa and step-great-grandchildren Austin and Brandon. After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Barry passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Friday January 9, 2015 at Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock Ontario. Promoted to Glory from Dearness Home on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015, Arthur “Art” Robert Edwards of London in his 89th year. Predeceased by wife Vera (Woods) in 1983 and Marlene (Cliffe) in 2013. Survived by his son Douglas (Betty) and will be missed by granddaughter Krisandra. Art was a faithful Soldier and was a member of the choir and the London Citadel Band and Jubilee Brass for over 70 years. BELL, Judge Walter Ernest….
With the miracle of birth, December 16, 1923, comes the acknowledgement of death, January 4, 2015. With all the love of his family, a lifetime of wonderful memories and a fulfilled life, Walter passed away peacefully in his sleep.
With his strong moral compass, his generous mentoring of others and his great thirst for knowledge, Walter set a very high standard for his family to live each and every day to its full potential.
An only child, Walter was predeceased by his parents Thomas Henry “Harry” Bell (1980) and Catherine Elsie Irene (Walker) (1993) and after almost 35 years of marriage, by his wife Joan Ruth (Rice) in 1989.
Dear father of Andrea (Rob Faulds) of Whitby, Richard (Regina), Sarah (Jim Long) and Heather (Greg Hiscox) all of London. Loved by his grandchildren Christopher (Brittany) Bell, Amy Bell, Ethan Faulds, Spencer and Aidan Long, Emma, Jeremy and Stella Hiscox and great grandson Jaxon Bell. Also remembered fondly by Sarah Whelan. Dear brother-in-law of John (Janet) Rice and uncle of Andrew (Patty) Rice and their children Alexander, William and Grant, all of Bowmanville. Predeceased by nephew David Rice (2009).
For the past 12 years, Walter has cherished the love and support of his soulmate Suzanne (Suzie) Pogue of Montreal and will be remembered fondly by her 4 children and her 11 grandchildren.
Walter served overseas in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. After graduating from U of T (LLB), he was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1949 and in Ontario in 1954. Walter practiced Law in London with his friend from wartime naval days, Wm. R. Poole in the firm of Poole, Bell and Porter for 25 years before his appointment to the Ontario Court of Justice Criminal Division in 1980. Upon mandatory retirement in 1998, Walter served for 6 years on the Ontario Review Board and as a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The memorial service will be conducted at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 472 Richmond Street, London on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11am. NORMAN, Herb….
Herbert passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4th, 2015 with his family by his side, in his 88th year. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (née Pickles), daughters Tracy and Shelley, and his beloved grandchildren Beth and York and their partners. He is also survived by his sisters Doris Scott, Joan White and Virginia Nuckolls and their extended families. Herb enjoyed working for many years at Oxford Dodge Chrysler in London. His dry sense of humour and his loyalty to friends and family will be missed. Herb’s passions, in addition to his family, were the Pittsburgh Steelers and golfing. We are consoled with our belief that he is now able to play as many rounds of golf as he likes. Fore! The family extends heartfelt thanks to the team on the 2nd floor at Extendicare for their care and support. There are truly angels among us.
