DICKER, Ida….
Peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Ida Dicker formerly of London in her 91st year. Beloved daughter of the late Gordon and Lillian Dicker. Loving sister of Jean Black. Cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Frances Hanlon, her brothers Edward and Douglas Dicker, her sister-in-law Jean Dicker, her brother-in-law Donald Black and her other sister-in-law Jean Dicker. The family would like to thank the staff at Craigwiel Gardens for the care and compassion provided to Ida, especially over the last few months. Friends will be received by the family 1 hour prior (9-10am) to the funeral service being conducted on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10 am at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, with Reverend Tracy Crick-Butler officiating. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. HEBB, Jim “Jimmy”…..
Peacefully at University Hospital in London with his family at his side, James (Jimmy to all) William Hebb passed away on Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 in his 81st year. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy. Jimmy leaves behind his 3 sons Blair (Marianne), Scott (Grace), Michael (Liz) and daughter-in-law Cyndi. As well, Jimmy leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Greg (Samantha), Steven (Lisa), Regan, Trinity, Amanda and Paige, one great-grandchild Katie and another on the way. Jimmy is also survived by his sister Joan (Steve) Killi and sister-in-law, Bev Schwirtlich and many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by all of his dear friends. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at A. Millard George Funeral Home , 60 Ridout Street South, London on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Cremation and a private family service to be held at a later date. Jimmy’s ability to bring people together is his legacy. Danny’s long and courageous struggle is peacefully concluded. He died quietly at Victoria Hospital early Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Brenda (McConnell) Smith for 42 years. Loving father of Natalie Smith. Dear brother-in-law of Greg McConnell. Dan will be missed by his cousins, friends and co-workers. Predeceased by his parents Ilene and Tom and his brother Kenny. The family would like to thank the London health care system that has supported Danny. Cremation has taken place. After a lengthly illness, Charles “Ron” Barclay passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in his 67th year, at University Hospital, London. Dear son of Charles (1983) and Hilda (1995) Barclay. Loving husband to Barbara (nee Elliott-Sillers). Caring step father to Crystal Lawlor (Jesse), Amanda Scott (Michael) and Casey Sillers (Jillian). Step grandfather to Joseph, George, Jacob, Samuel, Liam, Henry, Kaytee-ann, Mallory, Lucy and Evangeline. He will be sadly missed by his many relatives, friends and their families. Norman Warner
WARNER, Norman….
It is with profound sadness that the family of Norman McAmmond Warner announce his passing, in his 93rd year, on Saturday evening, March 4th, 2017. Norm was the deeply cherished husband of Mary for 65 years. He will be sadly missed by his children Marian Kirby, Margot Warner-Knowles and Mark Warner (Marnee). As well he was the proud grandfather of Bjorn Kirby and Ted Warner-Knowles. Survived by his brother-in-law George Engelking and several generations of nieces and nephews, who all had a very special place in his heart. Predeceased by three sisters, Mary, Eleanor, Edith and brother Robert. In 1944 Norm left high school to join the Armed Services where he received his wings as a paratrooper. The war ended and he enrolled at the University of Toronto, graduating as a Civil Engineer. He enjoyed his profession and the many challenges it presented. After retirement, he continued his volunteer work, became an accomplished wood carver, enjoyed golfing at Sunningdale and bridge games with friends. Norm liked nothing more than spending time at the family cottage on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula. Church was an important part of Norm’s life and for the last 13 years he sang in his church choir, continuing until just one week ago. Cremation has taken place. After a courageous battle, Denise has joined the angels on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the age of 51. Beloved daughter of Nancy and the late James Gillespie. Survived by her sisters Ronda, Jamie and Kim and her brother Cameron and their families. Missed by her dog Samantha. Friends will be received on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 9 to 11 am at the A. Bob Bailey
BAILEY, BOB….
Robert Brent Bailey 1934-2017, “Bob” died peacefully in University Hospital Palliative Care with Kay and Betsy by his side. Bob and Kay enjoyed 59 years of a good life together. He was predeceased by their son, Brent McKay Bailey (Veronica) in 2004, and is survived by his daughter Betsy (Ed) Hofsteede, as well as grandsons, Eamonn, presently at University in Beijing, China, and Sean, at Ryerson University in Toronto, and Brent R. Bailey in Toronto. After graduating from U.W.O., Bob joined General Motors in the London office for 5 years, moving to Oshawa in 1963, then Burlington, before joining his brother Bill in the Dealership at LMP in 1968. Bob spent many winters in Florida with Kay, enjoying his favourite pastime, golfing. Cremation and a private family service has taken place. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at the London Hunt and Country Club, 1431 Oxford Street West, London on April 8, 2017 from 2-4 pm. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, London. Terry Robinson
ROBINSON, Terry…..
Passed away on March 3, 2017, at Parkwood Hospital in his 88th year. Predeceased by his wife of 57 years Diane, parents Archie and Jean, and brother Ray. Loving father of Jeffrey (Catherine), Janet (Sam Crozier) and Barbara. Loving Grandfather of Alexandra and Joshua Robinson (Emma), Alison and Gillian Crozier. Cherished by sister-in-law Connie Jefferess. He will also be missed by his close friends, the people of St. James Westminster Anglican Church and his neighbourhood. Terry was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. He worked for Bell Canada for over 37 years and after retirement worked with the Pioneers including Diane, sewing Therapeutic Heart Pillows for London Health Sciences Centre Cardiac patients. Terry and Diane enjoyed camping and traveling especially in North America, heading from coast to coast on many a road trip. They also ventured to Korea and China. Terry was a talented woodworker, plumber, electrician, auto-mechanic and so much more. He spent a lifetime giving of his time, talent and treasure at St. James, the Girl Guide Camp Orenda and the homes and cottages of countless family, friends and neighbours. There was almost nothing that Terry couldn’t fix. He always claimed that there would be a toilet to fix before he could pass through the Pearly Gates…he’s probably working on that now. Terry always had time to teach, guide and encourage his children and grandchildren while still allowing them to find their own way through life. A memorial service will be conducted at St. James Westminster Anglican Church, 115 Askin Street, on Wednesday March 15th at 1pm. Cremation has taken place. Judy died peacefully on February 28, 2017 at the age of 73 at the Dearness Home in London. Predeceased by her parents Florence and Stuart Bourne. She is survived by her brother Larry (Paula), her nephew David Bourne (Dana), niece Alexandra Bourne (Grant), four great-nieces and one great-nephew, and an extended family. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the Dearness Home for their sensitive care, and especially to our cousin Marilyn Clements for her love and devotion as Judy’s primary caregiver and very best friend over the last several years. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 3-5pm, at the A. Bette Pawley (nee Hillary May Scrivens)
June 19, 1921 – February 23, 2017
Passed away peacefully at University Hospital surrounded with the love and gratitude of family and friends. Bette was a true blessing to everyone lucky enough to know her. Her longtime love and life with husband Jess has been an inspiration to many. Deeply loved by daughter Susan Richardson & Robert and by daughter-in-law Ingrid Pawley (wife of son Barry). Cherished by granddaughters Danielle (Christine), Krista (Aran), Robyne (Allan) and Brooke (Steve) and by her great grandchildren Ava, Holly, Kai, Elie, Kathryn, Reed, Luke & Isla who thoroughly enjoyed Gigi’s attention and affection. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Shirley Scrivens, and by her many nieces and nephews and their families and by her friends at St. Andrew Memorial Church. Special thanks to everyone who has brightened Bette’s life in recent years – family, friends, staff at Grandwood Park Retirement Home, and compassionate caregivers at University Hospital.
