On Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Beloved husband of Liz, proud father of Trevor and Peter. Brother to Bev and the late Clayton, uncle of Sean and great uncle of Jaron. Gary was a sixties hippie who, as a young man, hitchhiked throughout Canada, USA, Mexico and most of Europe. The family wants to thank Bev for his support and regular visits with Gary. Thanks for the care, compassion and hugs that we received from the teams at Glendale Crossing, the Geriatric Behaviour Unit at Vic and the Parkwood Institute on his dementia journey. At Victoria Hospital, London, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, George Leonard Smeltzer, surrounded by his loving family, passed peacefully in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Patricia (Dowswell) Smeltzer (2014). Loving father of Laurie Patterson (James) of London, Michael Smeltzer (Angela) of Estevan, SK and Peter Smeltzer (Catherine) of London. Dear grandfather of Trevor Patterson of Vancouver, B.C. Isaac Smeltzer (Melissa) of Denver, CO, Megan Schick (Mason) of Weyburn, SK, Yakira Mukendi (Didi) of Kuwait, Larissa Smeltzer of Hamilton, Samantha, Lily and Danielle of London. Cherished great grandfather of Madisyn Joy and Emily Patricia Grace Schick. Dear brother of Betty Joiner (Leo), Doris Balfour (Bob), Lois Smeltzer and survived by his sister-in-law Wilma Smeltzer all of St. Thomas and brother-in-law Daniel Dowswell of Kalamazoo, MI. Also loved by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Ruth White, Mary Lunn, Hank Smeltzer, Douglas Smeltzer and Bonnie-Lynn Smeltzer. Peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Jim Steele passed away at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Geraldine A. “Gerry” (Brown) Steele (2000). Proud father of Anne McKay and husband Brian, Jim Steele and wife Dianne, Sue Chadder and husband Paul, Cathy Coombs and husband Kevin, Mike Steele and wife Tracy and father-in-law of Connie Steele. Predeceased by his son Bill Steele and his brother Cameron Steele. Also loved by his 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Jim was a long-standing member of the Masonic Order. McCLURE, Dorothy N – Peacefully at University Hospital, London on Friday, October 6, 2017 following a brief illness, Dorothy Norma McClure, in her 90th year. Dear sister of John (Lucille) McClure of London. She was predeceased by her sister Florence Swinden (Fred), brothers Frank (Kay), Clare (Jenny), Herb (Geraldine) and Fred (Edith) McClure. Born in 1927 to the late Jesse and Emma (Atkinson) McClure. Dorothy chose nursing as her life’s work, both in public health practice and in teaching and administration. She retired from Hamilton Health Sciences (McMaster) in 1992 and enjoyed her home “at the Lake” at Port Franks, Ontario for many years, along with travels to many parts of the world, and singing with the Forest Community Singers. She moved to London in 2011. Dorothy will be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews spanning three generations. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the A. Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday, September 23, 2017, Jim Pinchin in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Ann (MacDonald) Pinchin for 61 years. Loving father of Alec Pinchin and his wife Lynne, Bruce Pinchin and his wife Helen Prislinger, Janet Mitchell and her husband Andy and Ellen Breen and her husband Rick. Grandfather Jim to Trevor (Natalia), Robert, Natalie, Kirsten, Graham, Conor, Peter, Calum and Nolan. Dear brother of Jane Lloyd (and the late Ben) and John Pinchin. Sadly missed by his nieces. Jim was extremely proud to have received his B.Sc. from Queen’s University in Civil Engineering class of 1955. He was a longtime member of First-St Andrew’s United Church and Highland Country Club (curling). Jim was a successful businessman.
