  • Margaret Elizabeth Lane

    Margaret Elizabeth Lane… 12 July 1924 – 14th March 2018

     

    Surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, 14th March, 2018, Betty passed away in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Lane (2015), dear mother of Daniel Lane and his wife Judy (London) and Kerry and the late Robert Shellard (1990) (England), sister to May and Ken Robbins (Winnipeg) and the late John Rothnie. Loved very much by her grandchildren, Katie, Krista, Daniel (Gabriella) and Craig. Betty was born in Hartney, Manitoba to parents Lillian and John Rothnie. She left home aged 18 to join the Women’s Royal Naval Services and was stationed at Shelburne, Nova Scotia. There she met her best friend and husband Ken. The couple returned to London, ON where they raised their two children. Betty’s home was always the heart of the family. She was extremely caring, generous and genuine, and touched us all with her no nonsense kindness. She had a passion for sports, especially the London Knights. She was known for her creative talents both in the kitchen and on her sewing machine, and she loved her garden and all the creatures in it. Betty was admired for her strength and brilliant sense of humour that kept us laughing until the end. She will be sorely missed. At Betty’s request cremation has taken place, with no visitation or formal funeral.     CLARE, Bill….

    Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 11, 2018, William “Bill” Clare in his 85th year.  Loved and loving husband of Norma (Dunn) Clare for 60 years.  Caring and proud Dad of Debbie (Randy), Nancy, Jeff (Lianne) and the late Baby Michael John. Adored by grandchildren Amanda (Tyler), Katie (Kody), Stephanie, Jordyn and great grandchildren Aubree, Nathan, Brielle, Jessa, Karson and Kayleigh. Brother-in-law of George (Joan) Dunn and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, John and Marjorie Clare and parents-in-law Norman and Bernice Dunn, and sister-in-law Carol (Jack) Kinciad. Bill was the former co-owner of Fletcher-Clare Contracting Company. He was a long-time member of Riverside United Church and Oakridge Lodge No. 708 A.F. & A. M. Deep gratitude is expressed to Reverend David Exley, Dr. David Dixon, University Hospital staff and the VON “E” Shift. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family from 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London and from 12:30 – 1:30 pm on Saturday at the church. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Riverside United Church, 695 Riverside Drive, London. Private family interment in Woodland Cemetery, London.     McPherson, Robert “Bob” … We say goodbye to a wonderful father, grandpa and brother on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the age of 69. Predeceased by his wife Margaret Virginia (2015). He is survived by his daughter Laurie McPherson. Loving grandfather to Austin, Aimee and Ashlee Wright. Cherished brother of Kathy and Larry McPherson.     Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at University Hospital at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Nora Isabelle (Kennedy) Forsyth. Dear father of Michael Forsyth and his wife Linda and Wendy Forsyth. Also loved by his grandson Matthew Forsyth. Missed by his sister-in-law Marge Forsyth. Predeceased by his granddaughter Michelle Forsyth and his brothers and sisters. Alex appreciated the company of his two friends, Brian and Charles. Friends are welcomed for visiting one hour prior to the funeral service (10-10:45 am) on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London.     COWING, Joanne Lynn….

    1948-2018

    At Woodingford Lodge on Monday, March 5, 2018, Joanne Lynn Cowing of London, ON passed into God’s care surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Joanne was predeceased by her parents Norman Jack Bradford (1983) and Hilda Martha Cowing (2001). Joanne was also predeceased by her brother-in-law George Harvey Pickering (1983) and the Reverend Calvin John Elder (1993) and several other much-loved aunts and uncles. Joanne was survived by her beloved sister the Reverend Joyce Pickering Elder, her niece Jacqui (Jeffery) Jennings, her nephew Jeffrey (Joanne) Pickering, six great nieces and nephews Jacob, Kateline and Jordan Jennings and Steven, Suzanne and Sarah Pickering. “Aunt Jo” will be missed by her great, great nephew Calvin, too. Upon Joanne’s arrival at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, ON, Joanne was welcomed with open arms. Special thanks for the care and compassion shown during her residence there. Her family would also like to acknowledge the fantastic care that Joanne received from all of the “Lakewood” staff and the excellent medical care from Dr. Barry Roth, Dr. Amanullah and Mr. Mark Dager. Relatives and friend will be received at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London for visitation from 12-1 pm on Monday, March 12, 2018, followed by her Celebration of Life Service officiated by the Reverend Dr. Andrew Fullerton, minister of Elmwood Avenue Pesbyterian Church, where Joanne was an active member, elder and choir member up to the time where by her illness restricted her participation.     Peacefully at home on Monday, March 5, 2018, Bob passed away in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Susan for 30 years. Loving father of Ed (Jen), Duane (Dawn), Scott (Mia). Grandpa to Luke, Emily, Jake, Sean and Max. Predeceased by his father Stan and mother Ruth and brother Gary-Gig. Also survived by his brother John (MaryAnn), sister-in-law Lesley and many nieces, nephews and friends. At Bob’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place.   • Wilma Lunenborg

    Wilma (Wiep) Lunenborg … 87, of Leamington, Ontario.  With her family by her side and buoyed by the warm thoughts of her friends at the Leamington Mennonite Home, Mom took God’s hand and was lead home on March 4, 2018.  Born May 11, 1930 in Engwierum, Friesland, the Netherlands, she is predeceased by her parents Pier and Martje Wielenga.  Held dear for 33 years by her late husband Bruin Lunenborg (1923-1993).   Cherished by her daughters Martha, and her husband Patrick Laporte of Leamington, and Jeanette Lunenborg of Port Perry.  Devoted Oma of Nicole Laporte.  An unfailing source of treats for her furry family members Phin, Bruno, Suri and Blaze.  She will be fondly remembered by her cousin and long time friend William VanWieren of London.  Wilma was the youngest of four girls: Geert and Renze Dijkstra, Siem and Galen v.d. Kooi and Frouk and Willem Stuursma.  Frouk, nieces and nephews continue to reside in the Netherlands.  Wilma immigrated to Canada in 1960.  She resided in London, Ontario and was, along with her family, a member of the Dutch Christian Reformed community, including the First Christian Reformed Church (now Talbot Street Church).  She moved to Leamington in 2009.  Her nurturing and compassionate nature was evident in her affection for and respectful care of individuals with disabilities, children and the elderly.  Many thanks to the Administration and to all of the Staff of the Leamington Mennonite Home for your kind and attentive care and to our friends on the 1st floor of the Long Term Care Home for your love and laughter.  Together we made what sometimes seemed impossible, possible. Visitation will occur in the Chapel at the Leamington Mennonite Home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 9:30 to 10 a.m.  Afterwards, her girls will follow their Mom east down the 401 to the A. Millard George Funeral Home in London, her hometown of almost 50 years.  A second gathering of family and friends will occur there on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m.  Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery will follow.  Gifts in Wilma’s memory can be made to the Leamington Mennonite Home or the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.     Peacefully surrounded by her family at Parkwood Hospital on Sunday, March 4, 2018, Marion (Clarke) Culbert at the age of 95, plus 1 week. Beloved wife of the late Norman W. Culbert (1983). Loving mother of Janet Logan (the late Robert), Barbara Barrett, Norman R. Culbert (Lyne), Ronald Culbert (Deborah) and Donald Culbert (Brenda). Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandsons. Dearly missed by several nieces, nephews and her dear friends. Predeceased by her sisters Jean, Jessie, Marjorie and her brother Leonard. The family would like to thank the nurses, friends and neighbours for their kindness.     Peacefully at home with his family by his side, Elson Cadogan passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 just nine days shy of his 87th birthday. He is survived by his loving wife Joan Cadogan of 57 years, his son Nigel (Heather) Cadogan, his daughter Sharon (Hilton) Senior, his brother Carl, his grandchildren; Emily, Anthony, Tyra, Devin and Tyson and his great-grandchild Kane. He is predeceased by his sisters Ancil and Catherine and his brother Hugh. Elson will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and extended family in Barbados, Canada and the United States. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1-2 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London.     December 2, 1910 – March 1, 2018
    Peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Middlesex Terrace, Evelyn passed away in her 108th year. Beloved wife of the late Murray Anger and late George Linsley. Evelyn is the oldest daughter of the late Frederick and Lily Clifford, formerly of Putnam. Dear mother of Elgin Anger and his wife Rosemarie (2017) of P.E.I. and Patricia Ellinger of Collingwood. Cherished grandmother of Kim MacGregor and her husband Wendell, James Anger, William Anger and his wife Michele, Echo Giroux and her husband Bertrand, Alan Anger, Michael Ellinger, Mark Ellinger and his wife Nancy and Tanya Anger. Evelyn will be fondly remembered by her 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces Lynn Glenn and her husband Brian and Lee Carter and her husband Gregory. Predeceased by brothers Frederick and Archie Clifford, her sister Barbara Alexander, her son Francis Anger and her grandson Victor Anger. Evelyn enjoyed traveling after the passing of George with trips to Europe, Barbados and other exotic places. We always enjoyed regular visits to Collingwood and P.E.I. even coming up to Collingwood till her mid 90’s. She was a strong and independent woman and an inspiration to everyone who met her. Her passion for keeping the family history alive has now been passed on. Special thanks to the caring staff at Grandwood and Middlesex Terrace and to Luella, Anne and Lee, her special friends who have been so compassionate and supportive. Friends are welcomed for visiting, one-hour prior (12-1 pm) to the funeral service being held at Reynolds Creek United Church, formerly Putnam United Church, 7180 Hamilton Road, Putnam on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 1 pm.
