    Unexpectedly, Scotty McConnell passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in his 30th year. Beloved son of Pamela McConnell. Devoted father of Madison. Cherished brother of Matthew and Justin. Adored grandson of Susan. Dear nephew of John (Sue). Loving boyfriend of Angeliea. Scott will also be missed by his niece, nephews, his father James, and his aunts.   • Carina Jacobsen

    JACOBSEN, Carina….

    With great sorrow, we wish to announce that Carina Tatjana Maria Jacobsen of London, in her 88th year, died peacefully at home with family by her side, on Friday, September 4, 2020.

    Born in Tallinn, Estonia, she was the daughter of Hans-Joachim Koch and Tatiana von Poppen. She and her family fled the Soviet invasion of Estonia during WWII, residing first in Germany, and later immigrating to Canada in the 1950’s where she would meet and marry her dear Peter.

    Beloved wife for over 60 years of Peter Jacobsen. Loving mother of Erik Jacobsen and his wife Birgit of London, and Anita Jacobsen of Stratford. Predeceased by her daughter Christina Mayhew (2002). Survived by her son-in-law Brent Mayhew and his wife Angela. Dear Oma of Nicolai and Tatiana Jacobsen, Ian and Paul Bennett and Peter and Robert Mayhew. Dear sister of Olaf von Ramm and his wife Barbara of North Carolina, Andreas Koch and his wife Uta of Munich, Germany.

    Carina was a remarkable woman. Despite the upheaval of her early years, she and her husband Peter were able to build a happy and prosperous life. As well as raising 3 children, she completed a BA from Western University, where she would later work in the library system. In her spare time, she helped establish and support the family business, Parkway Gardens.

    She loved languages and literature, theatre and music, family pets and wild creatures, swimming and travelling, dear friends and good food, but above all she loved her family, and cared selflessly for them. We will miss her always.

    The family would like to thank Dr. Catherine Walsh, and Mary Wellman, Teri, Janfer, Janet, Yvette, and all the dedicated and caring staff at Medical Priorities who made it possible for Carina to be at home with her beloved Peter for these last difficult months of her life.

    Cremation has taken place. Due to current COVID restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London.

    MORTON, John…

    Peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospice, London, John Morton passed away in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Evelina M. (Oropilla) Morton and the late Grace Morton. Loving father of Janis Morton and her husband Jim Mitchell of St. Thomas, the late David Morton (1996), Astriel Oropilla-Morton and Martin Oropilla Ibana-Morton both of London. Dear grandfather of Jason Stevenson of London. Special friend of Arnold Sandoval Ilustre of Spain. Predeceased by his parents Mungo and Grace Morton. John served in the Military from 1941-1946 Navy League Cadet, 1951-1953 RAF (Bomber Command), he was formerly a Millwright, Mechanical Engineer and Draftsman at Unifin and Kellogg’s. He was also a Workmaster Mason at Masonic Lodge # 22 St. John  Kilmaranock (Scotland). He had a passion for his work as a Minister of Health and Long Term Care – Family Council Facilitator (LHIN 2). The family wishes to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital, the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice and the London Regional Cancer Program for all their care and compassion. A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 11, 2020 at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, London. Due to current restrictions the service will be by invitation only. All those attending the funeral home are required to wear a face mask.     BROOKS, Robert “Norm”

    After a short unexpected illness, Norm Brooks passed away at University Hospital, London on September 1, 2020 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Anne for 51 years. Dear father of David (Nancy) Brooks and Sarah Brooks. Fondly remembered by his brother Edward (Rose) Brooks and predeceased by his sister Shirley Thomas. Norm will be deeply missed by his four-legged companion Ricky.  Norm was a devoted member of the Riverside United Church choir where he enjoyed making a joyful noise as he called it. Cremation has taken place.     RUMBALL, Nicholas “Nick” Todd …
     
    Peacefully passed away at Victoria Hospital, London on Monday, August 31, 2020, in his 29th year. Beloved partner of Margaret Mary Tessier. Loving father of Ivory. Survived by his parents, Todd and Joanne Rumball, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends who counted him a brother.  Nick was loved by all who knew him and will be desperately missed by his family and friends.  He will also be missed by Socks.  His family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Victoria Hospital’s Critical Care Trauma Centre who treated him and his family with care and compassion.
     
    Private services and cremation with internment to follow.   • Lucinda “Cindy” Moore

    MOORE, Lucinda Ann….

    Dec. 6, 1947 – Aug. 27, 2020

    Cindy passed peacefully in the Complex Care/Palliative Care unit at Parkwood Institute on Thursday, August 27, 2020. She is survived by her sister, Dr. Jennifer Moore of Burnaby, British Columbia, and her brother Grand Moore of Mississauga, Ontario.

    Cindy was born in Dauphin Manitoba but grew up mostly in Ontario. She lived in London since 1962 and was a graduate of London South Secondary School. She was a proud and devoted member of St. Andrew Memorial Anglican Church.

    Cindy was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by her family and friends. Her siblings extend much love and gratitude to the staff at Parkwood and to the many friends and neighbours who cared for her.

    In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.

  • Patricia Seaman (Hey)

    SEAMAN, Patricia….

    Patricia Seaman (previously Hey) passed away peacefully at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, London, on Thursday, August 27, 2020 in her 95th year.  Beloved wife to the late Peter Hey who passed away in 1981.  Loving Mum to Glenda Thomas and her husband Chuck and Eric Hey and his wife Marianne.  Loving Nan to Sara and Jason Thomas and Nana to Brandon and Collin Hey.  Loving Great Grandmother to Jillian Garrison and Estelle Marie Hey.

    Patricia was born and raised in Ealing, West London, England.  Her parents, Florence and Walter Hawley, celebrated the birth of their only child, but her father passed away in 1929 when Patricia was only 3 years old.  Patricia and her Mum were very close and lived together all through WWII, making many trips to their air raid shelter.  Patricia worked at Tecalemit Ltd., a munitions factory in London, for her contribution to the War Effort, and could tell a person many stories of her life in London during the war.

    Patricia met Peter Hey while he was on leave in the early part of the War.  Peter served in the British 8th Army in North Africa and Italy for the entire 6 year duration of the war.  Patricia and Peter were married on June 21st, 1947.  They enjoyed a very loving and happy marriage until Peter passed away March 6, 1981.

    Patricia immigrated to Canada with Peter and their son, Eric, in 1953, where their daughter Glenda was born.  Patricia was a homemaker for many years after their arrival in Canada, where she raised her two children.  She was an avid knitter and enjoyed sewing things for her home and children.  She enjoyed travelling later on in life. 

    Mum/Nan/Nana, as she was known by her family, was a lifelong and dedicated tea lover.  She took great pleasure in putting the kettle on to make one of her most enjoyed creations, a good cuppa tea!

    Peacefully on the land he was born on with family by his side, on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Ronald Edward Sumner in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Ellen L. (nee Robbins) Sumner (2012). Loving father of Alex E. Sumner and Wendy. Cherished grandfather of Victor and Alicia, Nathan and Emily, William and Tracy, Brock, and Christina. Great-grandfather of four. Dear brother of Shirley McNeil. Much loved uncle of Carolyn Denning. Predeceased by his son Kirk R. Sumner (2006). Ronald lived his life to the fullest. He was the 6th generation descendant of the original settlers of Westminster Township (1819). A long-time employee of London Board of Education, and a Farmer. Ronald was committed to his church and the welfare of the less fortunate. He invested himself in relationships with friends, and most importantly loved his family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Chalmers Presbyterian Church, London, at 1 pm.     Peacefully on his own terms after a battle with cancer, Keith Wm. Hines passed away at Victoria Hospital, London on Friday, August 21, 2020, in his 79th year. Dear spouse of Gloria. Loving father of Janet and David. Cherished granddad of Taryn. Dear brother of Marjorie (Roger) Walters, Alan (Nancie) Hines. Predeceased by Eric, Graham and his twin sister Brenda. Keith will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. At this time there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced.   • Dorothy Parnell

    PARNELL, Dorothy Gertrude…

    (1919-2020)

    Dorothy Gertrude Parnell passed away on August 20th as gracefully as she lived, two days after her 101st birthday. She was the matriarch of her enormous family who loved her dearly. Raised in Quebec City, a graduate of Queen’s University (1940), she lived her adult life in London, ON. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Douglas E. Parnell (1998), her sons Gordon (1943) and Ted (1981), and her daughter Sandy Mullen (2019). She will be missed daily by her daughters, Anne Richards (John) of Kingston and Peg Herbert of Ottawa, and her son Tim Parnell (Judy) of Armstrong, B.C. Dorothy was the cherished grandmother of Peggy (Steve), Dave (Christie), Heather (Tom), Brent (Suzanne), Mark (Julie), Jesse, Lucas (Adrienne), Abel (Jessica), Dawson (Leah), Ben (Kristen), and Kate (Megan). She was a great-grandmother to 21 adorable children. Dorothy loved travelling with her husband, reading voraciously, swimming, golfing, following the lives of her favourite players, walking, and loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. Her commitment to community service was inspiring, including volunteering at the CNIB, palliative care at Parkwood Institute, Wesley-Knox United Church and Help Lesotho. Dorothy was past President of the Queen’s Alumni (London Chapter) and gave an annual scholarship to a mature student at the Ban Righ Centre. Her summers were spent with children and grandchildren at her beloved family cottage on Tea Lake. Special memories were made there. She was the last of her generation, predeceased by her brother John Matheson (Edith), Catherine Carty (Ken) and Margaret Slemon (Gordon) and adored by a multitude of wonderful nieces and nephews. As the cornerstone of this enormous family, she modeled for us the importance of family and friends. Our sincere thanks to each staff member at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care who were unfailingly kind, attentive and positive. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
