  • Dr. Alan Enlow Alway

    ALWAY — Alan Enlow Alway, M.D., M.Sc., F.R.C.P. (C), of London, died Sunday October 31st 2004 at the London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus, in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Mary Lee (Bell) Alway and loving father of Ann Bozik (Ron) of London, Mary Alfieri (Michael) of Newmarket and Pamela Sanders (Dr. David) of Strathroy. He is survived by his sister Ann (Alec) Galloway of Waterloo; and was predeceased by his 2 brothers Marshall of Simcoe and Mowbray of Hamilton and Huntsville. Loved by his 6 grandchildren Sarah, Rebecca, Michael, Rob, Matthew and William. Graduated from the U.W.O. in January 1943. He served in the Armed Forces (R.C.A.M.C.) as a Medical Student and then in the R.C.N.V.R. retiring as a Surg. Lt. Cmdr. (Reserve) in 1961. He served in the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (Canadian Pension Commission) until his retirement in 1983. During this period he was a clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at U.W.O. (1955-1972). Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday November 4th at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A service to celebrate Alan’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 472 Richmond Street (at Queens Avenue), London, on Friday November 5th at 2 P.M with The Very Reverend Terry Dance officiating. Harry served as a rear gunner with the Royal Air Force during World War II, and was formerly a Director of Nursing at Westminster Hospital, London. Cremation has taken place.
