After a lifelong quest for knowledge, C. Maria (Mies) van der Wel of London, Professor Emeritus at Huron College, passed into glory at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, London, on Saturday July 9th 2005 in her 88th year. She is survived by her brothers Thies van der Wel of Holland, John (Atie) VanderWel of Brampton, Leo (Nellie) Vanderwell of Burnaby B.C., Charles VanderWel of London, C. Frank (Corry) VanderWel of London; and her sisters Tineke Goodhand of the U.K., Helen (Tony) Barton of the U.S.A., and Trudy (Bert) Van der Hoek of London. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A., U.K. and Holland. Predeceased by her brothers Willem (1955) and Douwe (1953). Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Monday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Memorial service will be held Tuesday July 12th at 11 A.M. at First Christian Reformed Church, 507 Talbot Street, London.
