JOHNSTON — At London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Campus, on Tuesday July 19th 2005, Ruth (Shaver) Johnston of London in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Cecil Johnston. Dear mother of Ruby Ferguson and her husband Stanley of St. Thomas, Cecil Johnston Jr. and his wife Marilyn of London, and Roy Johnston and his wife JoAnn of Belmont. Dear sister of Dorothy Horst of London (and her late husband George). Predeceased by her daughter Margaret Kelly, her brother Chester Shaver and her grandson Jeffrey. Also loved by her 11 grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received by the family 1 hour prior to the funeral service being conducted in the chapel of the A. Peacefully at the palliative care unit of Victoria Hospital, London on Monday, July 18, 2005. Margaret Hazel (Johnson) Clarke of London in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Wesley J. Clarke. Dear mother of Gregory Clarke and his wife Norma of California, Christopher (Kit) Clarke of London, Jennifer Huxley and her husband Fred of Brantford and Scott Clarke and his wife Anna of Toronto. Dear sister of George Johnson and his wife Betty of Windsor. Dear step-sister of Alma Wilbur and Adrienne Burton both of Burlington. Dear sister-in-law of Gwen Elford of Oakville and Bruce Clarke and his wife Ivah of Leamington. Dear cousin of Sheila Baker and her husband Jack in England. Also loved by her grandchildren Lyndsay and her fiance Craig Ashby, Patrick and Spencer Huxley and Eric and Kate Clarke and her great grandchild Keenan Ashby. Hazel was a warden and lay representative of St. George’s Anglican Church, member of Beta Sigma Phi, former executive of Highland Curling Club, and volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, and Cubs. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 227 Wharncliffe Road North, at Oxford Street, London on Friday, July 22nd at 11:30 a.m. with friends being received by the family from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place later at Victoria Memorial Gardens, Windsor. Maria (Mies) van der Wel of London, Professor Emeritus at Huron College, passed into glory at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, London, on Saturday July 9th 2005 in her 88th year. She is survived by her brothers Thies van der Wel of Holland, John (Atie) VanderWel of Brampton, Leo (Nellie) Vanderwell of Burnaby B.C., Charles VanderWel of London, C. Frank (Corry) VanderWel of London; and her sisters Tineke Goodhand of the U.K., Helen (Tony) Barton of the U.S.A., and Trudy (Bert) Van der Hoek of London. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A., U.K. and Holland. Predeceased by her brothers Willem (1955) and Douwe (1953). Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
