Marie Francoise Marguerite Jones
MARGUERITE JONES
Marie Francoise Marguerite Jones (nee Bolduc) born May 7, 1922 at Sillery, Quebec passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24,2006 ,after a short battle with cancer. Marguerite is the beloved Mother of Beverly Forster-Bourque and Susan Genest, Grandmother to Andrew Bourque and John-Christian Bourque. Predeceased by her husband and partner for life Lieutenant Commander William Forster Jones, Royal Canadian Navy (1924-1965): her parents Joseph Ernest Bolduc (1881-1937) and Agnes Ritchie (1886-1968): her two sisters Mary and Gertrude and her three brothers Ernest, Frederique and Rolland Bolduc and her Son In Law Judge Maurice Genest.
During World War 11 Marguerite enlisted into the Canadian Women’s Army Corps W4843 in Montreal and served in Canada, Britain and Europe from February 1943 to June 1946.
Marguerite was a devoutly Christian woman who raised her daughters alone after the early death of her husband working as a secretary. She was a devoted Grandmother who loved and cared deeply for her two Grandsons.
Marguerite enjoyed her church, her home and excelled at cooking. She loved to travel, the opera, theatre and playing bridge with her many good friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28th from 2pm to 4pm. at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be conducted at Bishop Cronyn Memorial Anglican Church, 442 William Street, London, Ontario on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 11:00am. with Reverend Rae Fletcher officiating. Beloved husband of the late Florence and the late Ainslie Haskett. Loving grandfather of Joshua, Sarah, Jonathan and Joel Haskett, and Adam, David and Melanie Casselman, and loving step-grandfather of Christopher and Katie Gundry and Bradley and Stacey Swinkels. Predeceased by his brother Bert Haskett. Charles graduated from The University of Western Ontario 1934, graduated from Osgoode Hall 1937, was appointed Queen’s Counsel 1957, a life member of the Law Society of Upper Canada 1987, Bachelor of Laws degree from York University 1991, past president of the Elmwood Bowling Club, past director of London Curling Club, past president of Highland Country Club and past master of St. John’s Lodge No. 209a and a member of the London Bridge Club. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the A. Albert Carman (Carm) Whitmore, formerly of London, passed away in St. Thomas, Friday, November 17, 2006, at age 83. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Elva (Twamley) Whitmore. Loving father of Dianne and her husband Dr. Kenneth Bocking of St. Thomas and Lynne and her husband The Reverend Robert Geddes of Hamilton. Proud grandfather of Andrew, Steven and Kathryn Bocking, Jennifer and Jeffrey Geddes. Brother of Warren Whitmore, Florence Carter and brother-in-law of Kathleen Whitmore and Ferne and Colin Crozier. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Carm was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Christena Whitmore, by brother Erlin, sister Sarah Elliott and her husband Gordon, brother Fletcher and his wife Ruth, brother-in-law Jack Carter and sisters-in-law Irene Whitmore and Hilda Twamley. He was a graduate of Seaforth Collegiate, Stratford Teacher’s College, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto. The majority of his teaching career was with the London Board of Education. During his retirement, he was active with the Retired Teachers of Ontario, was presented with their Founding Members Award for his outstanding contributions and honoured by the Local District. Carm was an active and caring member of Calvary United Church, London, involved with Sunday School, youth groups, the choir, and had leadership roles with the Trustees and with the Official Board.
For more than 60 years, Carm was a member of the Masonic Order. He served as Master of St. John’s Lodge 209a; District Deputy Grand Master, London District; TPGM of London Lodge of Perfection. He was a Shriner and an Honorary 33rd of the Scottish Rite Supreme Council of Canada.
Carm loved life, enjoying his Bruce Beach cottage, travel, curling and woodworking but most of all his family and friends. Family will receive friends at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Monday, November 20 from 2-4 and 7:30-9 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. that evening under the auspices of St. John’s Lodge 209a A.F. & A.M. Funeral service will be held at Calvary United Church, 290 Ridout Street South, London, on Tuesday, November 21 at 11 a.m. Interment at a later date at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
