Peacefully, surrounded by her family at University Hospital, London, on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, Donna (Darling) Hall of London in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Vic Hall (2008). Loving mother of Kim Jovichevich of London, Barb Park of Nobleton and Kelly Hall-Mathews of London. Proud Nana of Andrea and Heather Jovichevich, Lindsay, Kara, Bryan and Lauren Park and Katelyn and Ryan Hall-Mathews. Fondly remembered by Peter and Larry. Dear sister of Barbara Simmons (late Ralph 1993) of Toronto and sister-in-law of Lois-Anne Hyde (Mac) of Barrie. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and numerous close friends. Donna touched the hearts of so many people with her warm smile, compassion for others and her sense of humour. Donna will be missed by her “Bridge Club Ladies” and her friends at Amica. The family wish to extend a special “Thank You” to the VON and the staff at University Hospital, 4th and 6th floor for their care and compassion. Also loved by his children and grandchildren, Judy Sayles, her husband Kirk and their children Graham, Emily and Chad of Mount Pleasant, Scott Powers, his wife Lorraine and their children Kyle and Kevin of Mississauga and Linda Powers and her daughter Charia of Brantford, his step-children Steven Staniforth and his wife Sharon of Sarnia, Mike Staniforth and his wife Sharon of Denfield, Kevin Staniforth and his wife Florabel of London, Tammy Huey of Sarnia and Dan Staniforth and his wife Carol of Wallaceburg. Also loved by his 16 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren, and his brothers Bob Powers and his wife Milly of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Bill Wright of Sarnia. Predeceased by his sisters Kay Mathers and Elsie Wright and his brother Bill Powers. Also missed by several nieces and nephews. Norma Rose Grant
GRANT, Norma Rose…..Peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at University Hospital, London, Norma Rose (Land) Grant of London in her 87th year. Survived by her husband Albert (Bud) after 65 years of happy marriage. One daughter Pamela and her mate Duncan Ramey and his three children Adam, Tara and Alicia. Dear sister of Stuart Land and his wife Blanche of Victoria. Dear aunt of Janet and John Land and his wife Diane all of Victoria, Linda Tunks and her husband Charlie of London, Douglas and Gary Grant of London and Peter Grant of Halifax. Norma was involved in lawn bowling for more than 25 years as a player and official. A long time member of Elmwood Lawn Bowling Club, she represented Ontario at the Canadian Chapionships many times and was successful in wining gold and silver medals. After retiring from the University of Western Ontario she took up golf to enjoy with her friends. Her hobby was china painting and she produced many artistic pieces. Norma and her husband spent 18 wonderful winters in Arizona and made many good friends while enjoying golf and playing bridge.
A special thank you to the staff of Four Counties Hospital in Newbury, Ontario for their care and concern. Also the staff at University Hospital in London for their care and compassion. Proud grandmother of Nathan Zaplatar and his wife Erin, Michael Smith, Jeffrey Smith and his fiancee Tahnee and Keegan Smith. Loving great-grandmother of Brayden Smith and Naomi Zaplatar. Also missed by her sister-in-law Vera Ramage and brother-in-law Ian Gilchrist and his wife Wilma. Dorothy will be missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Loving father of Ken Dakin, Dennis Dakin and his wife Lisa, Leonard Dakin and Leslie Dakin. Cherished step-father of Sandi Gatschene and her husband Wayne and Keith Andress and his wife Susan. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Brodie, Robbie, Samantha, Shawn Gatschene and his wife Shelly, Amber Kuntz and Natalie Andress. Also missed by his great-grandchildren Rashelle, Bridget, Ashley and Skylar. Fondly remembered by his cousin Bob Sawyer and his wife Virginia of Windsor, nieces, nephews and extended family. Loving step-mother to Bonnie (Park) Blackburn and her husband Larry of Amherstburg. Loving grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also loved by her many nieces and nephews.
