Dear father of Wilma Rivard and partner Robert Haig of Windsor and Annita Archibald and her husband Martin of London. Dear brother of Derk Vastenholt and his wife Agnes of Holland and Margje Den Ouden of London. Also loved by his grandchildren Shawn, Jason and Ashly and great grandchildren Hailey, Aidan, Alexis, Riley, Alyssa and Evan. Predeceased by three sisters. AGAR, Gladys……Gladys Maude Agar, born 1915 in St. Thomas, Ontario and moved to London as a young child. Promoted to Glory in London, Ontario on August 12, 2009. A committed Salvationist throughout her life and fiercely proud of her early service as a Salvation Army Officer. Predeceased by her parents, Albert Edward and Sheba Rebecca Agar, her sister Miriam Avey, her brothers Thomas, Albert, Charles, George and William. Sister of Lt. Colonel Bessie Hamilton. A caring Aunt to many nieces, nephews, great and great, great nieces and nephews. Friends will be received by the family at the A. Peacefully at Longworth Long Term Care, London on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 Beatrice Irene (Henderson) Plewes in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late William John “Jack” Plewes. Loving aunt of Gerry Henderson and his wife Pat of Oshawa, Keith Henderson and his wife Jo-Ann of Blenheim, Carrol Henderson and Reverend Deacon Pat Henderson both of London. Cherished great-aunt of Jennifer Ewen and her husband Doug, Melissa Henderson-McStravick and her husband Peter and Kelly Henderson. Sadly missed by her great-great-neices and nephews James and Kyle Ewen, Avery Beatrice, Chip and Reid McStravick. Also missed by several cousins and longtime friends. Predeceased by her parents William and Ellen Henderson her best friend (sister) Hazel Henderson and her brother Harold Henderson. Stackhouse (1945) and the late Wilfred William “Bill” Wastell (1981). Loving mother of John Stackhouse of Belmont, Robert Stackhouse of London, Diana Shirley of London, Wilfred Wastell of London and Adele Brockett of London. Sadly missed by her 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Also missed by her sister Shirley Roberts. Predeceased by her brothers Russell, Gordon and Arthur Sims, her son James Wastell, her daughter-in-law Gilberte Stackhouse and her son-in-law Terrence Shirley. GRANT, Norma Rose…..Peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at University Hospital, London, Norma Rose (Land) Grant of London in her 87th year. Survived by her husband Albert (Bud) after 65 years of happy marriage. One daughter Pamela and her mate Duncan Ramey and his three children Adam, Tara and Alicia. Dear sister of Stuart Land and his wife Blanche of Victoria. Dear aunt of Janet and John Land and his wife Diane all of Victoria, Linda Tunks and her husband Charlie of London, Douglas and Gary Grant of London and Peter Grant of Halifax. Norma was involved in lawn bowling for more than 25 years as a player and official. A long time member of Elmwood Lawn Bowling Club, she represented Ontario at the Canadian Chapionships many times and was successful in wining gold and silver medals. After retiring from the University of Western Ontario she took up golf to enjoy with her friends. Her hobby was china painting and she produced many artistic pieces. Norma and her husband spent 18 wonderful winters in Arizona and made many good friends while enjoying golf and playing bridge.
A special thank you to the staff of Four Counties Hospital in Newbury, Ontario for their care and concern. Also the staff at University Hospital in London for their care and compassion.
