Peacefully at Westmount Gardens, London, on Thursday, May 2, 2013, Yvette (Caron) Hanson in her 88th year. Wife of the late Allan Sidney Hanson. Loving mother of Tim (Fay), Roberta (Steve), Valerie (Ivan), Jocelyn (Ron), Lori-Anne (Gerry), Step-daughter Glenda (Adrien). Daughter-in-law Marjorie. Dear sister of Erma, Roland, Muriel, John. Also missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter Patricia, son’s Gord and Dick, Brother Janeau. A Celebration of Life will be held at the A. Reverend David George Ogilvie
OGILVIE, The Reverend David George – 81, of London, ON, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in the Palliative Care Ward of University Hospital, London. Born in Hamilton, ON, he was the son of David and Viola (Bacon) Ogilvie. After working for several years in the fields of banking and business, Dave finally answered God’s call to pastoral ministry at age 39. He became a student at McMaster Divinity College and began a 30 year career in ministry, serving Ontario Baptist churches in Jerseyville (where he was ordained in 1974), Arkona, and Burtch, and St. Lambert, QC. Dave also served as Chaplain at Rideaucrest Home for the Aged in Kingston, ON and as Interim Minister to Bothwell and Clacham Baptist churches, Sunrise Baptist Church, London, and First Baptist Church, North Bay. In retirement, Dave was actively involved at Westview Baptist Church, London, and as a volunteer at Victoria Hospital as a member of the Kiwanis Club of East London. For the past year he had been a resident of Westmount Gardens where he received excellent care. Dave loved singing and listening to music, camping and travelling, curling, lawn bowling, shuffleboard, and spending time with family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Gladys (nee Davidson); his twin sister, Jean Ogilvie, Hamilton; his children, David (Cynthia) Ogilvie, Centreville, NS; Susan (Ralph) Weber, Waterloo, ON; Bonnie (Joel) Vivian, Wyoming, ON; Robert (Bonnie) Ogilvie, Port Moody, BC; and Glenn (Ami) Ogilvie, Woodstock, ON; as well as sister-in-law, Evelyn Connor, Peterborough, ON; and brother-in-law, David Davidson, Beamsville, ON. He is also loved and missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family in Australia. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday, May 5, 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Westview Baptist Church,1000 Wonderland Road, South, London where a celebration of Dave’s life will take place on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., Reverend David Stead officiating, with a Reception to follow. Marlene leaves behind many friends from her long involvement with The Salvation Army. It is with broken hearts we have to announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) Alastair Rutherford on April 26, 2013 forever loved by his wife Linda and devoted dad to Thomas and Heather. Son of the late Thomas Aird Rutherford (2008) and Margaret Grace Rutherford (1999) and brother Bruce Arygll Rutherford (2011). Son-in-law of Robert and Ruby Roney, brother-in-law of Ken Roney and Marilyn and Raymond Copes. Uncle to Christopher, Kevin and Colin Copes, Julie and Matt Herman and Michael Rutherford. Cousin to Dedie (Kirk) Hudson, Margie (Ernie) Tardiff and John (Jane) McKinley, Joanne Brooks and special family member Helen Rutherford. Business partner to Peter van der Westen for 40 years as Vanderwesten and Rutherford Limited and with Tony Mantecon as Vanderwesten Rutherford Mantecon. Friends for life to Cecil Wilson, John Pierce, Ken Cummings and Dave Shillington. Always in touch with one another and together they shared many unforgettable canoeing and camping trips together. Best friend to our furry friends Caoimhe, Alt, Willy and Sandy who could always count on Bill to share a treat. There is a poem about how you would describe your dash from life to death. Bill’s dash was full of devotion to his family and to his work. Thomas and Heather were the world to Bill and he was involved as much as possible with whatever they decided to take on. Seldom did Bill miss a hockey-baseball-lacrosse-soccer practice or game, horse show rain, sun or snow, or Saturday morning tutoring. Going out to the Highland with Thomas for a round of golf, or trailering Heather and her horse to a horse show were always a good day for Bill. Their world was his and he truly loved to be a part of every moment. Bill was a very proud dad to Thomas and Heather, and we are so thankful he was a big part of it. Bill was a member of the The Professional Engineers of Ontario and served on different committees as part of The Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), Councillor of the Western Region, Professional Development Committee, Discipline Committee, Councillor at Large, Audit Committee, Advisory Committee on Committees, Task Force on PEO Role in Engineering Education, Task force to Establish School Outreach Committee, Discipline and Enforcement Steering Committee, member of The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE), member of the Highland Golf and Country Club. In the Community Bill was involved with London Chapter Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Lambeth United Church, Mount Brydges Minor Hockey, Northshore Hitmen Hockey, Minor Soccer in Strathroy and Del Ko Brydge, Minor Baseball in Komoka, Poplar Hill, Strathroy and Delaware, Blue Devils Minor Lacrosse, Shadowlane Stables and Southwest Trillium Hunter Jumper Association. Thank you especially to our family, friends and neighbours, the staff of Vanderwesten Rutherford Mantecon all of whom Bill had the pleasure to work with, Dr Archie Grace, Dr Katherine Roth, Dr. Sara Kuruvilla, Medical Oncology staff of C7 at LHSC Victoria Campus, Palliative Care Team (Lynne Hughes Marsh) at LHSC, CCAC , VON, Rev. Peacefully, with all of his family at his side, George passed away on Friday, April 26 at London’s Victoria Hospital on the Palliative Care wing. He was in his 90th year and was a retired public school principal at Arthur Ford for 10 years, Northridge for 8 years and during his last year he also oversaw Northdale Public School. His accomplishments along with many dollars that he quietly gave to local institutions will be remembered on Monday, May 6th at 2 pm, during a memorial service at Calvary United, the church he supported for over 54 years as an elder. George was always very active in the community and was a member of The Kiwanis Club and the Probus Club. George is predeceased by his 5 brothers (Andy, Orrie, Lorne, Duncan and Ross) and 1 sister (Annie). He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Eileen (Taylor), two children; his son Brian and his wife, Bonnie (French) and daughter Linda Wheatley and her partner John Hay. George will also be missed deeply by his two granddaughters Valerie and Danielle McNichol as well as many nieces, nephews, his former son-in-law Chris, and many grandpets. The family would like to thank Dr. Schreier and his palliative care team on the 6th floor for their care and support. Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London on Thursday, April 25, 2013, William G. “Bill” McKenzie in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite (Higham) McKenzie (2011). Loving father of Ravinn-O-West (George) of Calgary, Alberta and Pamela Dedic (Vit) of Oakville. Cherished grandfather of Lisa Chapman, Tebbie Chuchla, Nadia Dedic, Monica Hassel and Kier Menzies and great- grandfather of Belle, Jack, Ella, Taylor and Toni. Dearly missed by his nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his daughter Joey Menzies (2008). Bill worked in London, Ontario for many years as an insurance executive. He enjoyed history and was influential in organizing the 1967 Centennial Franklin Expedition.
