BRINKMAN, Annie “Ann”…..

Peacefully while reading a good book, at Maple View Terrace on Thursday, March 27, 2014, Annie “Ann” (nee Toplinski ) Brinkman in her 98th year made her transition. Beloved Wife of Ernest “Ernie” Brinkman (2000). Loving Mother of Dennis Brinkman, Lesley Brinkman both of London and John Brinkman and his wife Elaine of Welland. Cherished Grandmother of Debbie, Chris and Adam. Dear Sister of Stephen Topolie (the late Stella). Also will be missed by her nieces, nephews and their families. Annie moved to the beat of a different drummer; was a pioneer for introducing creative educational practices into London Public Schools, such as Yoga instruction and colour therapy for relieving stress and anxiety in young people. Annie was a women who gave her kindness and talents to all those who knew her. A very active participant in music, gardening, homemaking, cooking, sewing and most of all “was there” for her family and dear friends. Never without her jaunty trademark hat and colourful silk scarf; Annie demonstrated elegance and grace wherever she appeared. She will be missed greatly. Peacefully surrounded by her family at Dearness Home, London, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, Elsie Annie (Walker) Van Ness in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Earl Franklin Van Ness (2006). Special mother of Guy Van Ness and his partner Sylvia Carriere of Cobourg, Ontario, Chester Van Ness and his wife Liz of Scotland, Ontario and Heather Taback and her husband Henry of London. Proud and loving grandma of Jeff, Chris, Sarah (John), Sandra (Kory), Nic, Nathan and Anastasia and great-grandma of Mathew, Max, Ethan and Emma. Dear sister of Alice and Jack (the late Audrey). Peacefully surrounded by her family at Chartwell London Long Term Care Residence, London, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, Leada Jean (Ross) Murray of London in her 102nd year. Beloved wife of the late Frank A. Murray (1995). Survived by a most devoted, loving daughter Janifer Lea Moore and her husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Dick Moore of London. Loving nannie of Joel Taggart of Aylmer and Karen Taggart of London, David Taggart (Shy) of London and step-nannie of Nancy Dubois (Dave) of Scotland, Ontario, Susan Moore of London, and Paul Jackson of Mitchell. Cherished by her great-grandson Frank Taggart and “step-nannie” to Dana and Robyn Dubois, Bradley Jackson, Andrew Moore and Holly McAndless. Survived by special niece Carolyn Hatt, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her brother Alden Ross and by her sister Florence McElhinney. She was a longtime active member of the United Church of Canada, including many years as soprano soloist in Truro, NS and Barrie ON. After moving from Truro NS in 1950, she began work with Man Power (Federal Government) for 22 years. She was instrumental in forming the London Chapter F.S.N.A. She has been a member of Metropolitan United Church, London since 1950. Special thanks to her loving caregivers at Chartwell. Predeceased by her children Tom, Christine and Robert. Mother in-law of Leone Brown. Cherished grandma of 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. Ellsworth Rogerson. Dear mother of Mary-Lynne Hinton (Art-predeceased) of London, John E. Rogerson (Ruth Anne) of Port Franks and Robert W. Rogerson (Karen) of Stratford. Dear sister of George Wood (Audrey) of London. Predeceased by her brother Gordon Wood and her sister-in-law Ruth formerly of St. Thomas, ON. Also loved by her grandchildren Andrea Konopka (Scott), Kristen Van Berkel (Steve), Tamara Lynne Lechner (Paul), Jonathan Rogerson (Leigh), Andrew Rogerson (Nicole) and Matthew Rogerson and her great-grandchildren Ryan and Abbey, Sydney and Tyler, Kilee, Tygre, Maddox, Braxton, Annica, Cameron and Andrew. Kay was business manager at the Addiction Research Foundation followed by over 30 years retirement with summers at the cottage on Lake Huron with family and friends. Kay was a member of the Maycourt Club for many years including the treasurer. Cremation has taken place. Dear Grandmother of Heather (Tom), Kendra (Stephen), Lindsey (Brent), Krista, Janine and Chelsea. Loving great-grandmother of Hunter, Lily and Sydney. Shirley is survived by many nieces and nephews.
