Reverend Frances Clarke
CLARKE, Reverend Frances Mary …
On Thursday, July 5, 2018, Reverend Frances Mary Clarke “Fran” flew away to find her new place in the endless circle of love with family by her side. She is now with the Source of love, light and life, where she longed to be. Beloved daughter of the late Reverend John T. and Lily Clarke. Cherished sister of Margaret (John) Clark, Odeyne (George) Wodskou and Allison (Larry) McLaren and sister-in-law of Elaine Clarke. Predeceased by her brother Reverend Ewart Clarke (2009) and her sister Florence Clarke (2004). Remembered with love by dear friends Barbara Birk-Olsen and Brenda Stewart. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Fran was designated as a deaconess in 1956 and served as director of Christian Education in Colborne St. United Church in Brantford, Port Nelson United Church in Burlington and Central United Church in Sarnia. After returning to university, she was ordained in 1977 and became part of the team ministry at Metropolitan United Church in London. Fran touched many hearts with her wisdom and gentle, generous nature. She was highly skilled with words and crafts. Her powerful prayers brought comfort and encouragement. She took great delight in designing amazing banners. Many newborn’s heads and older laps have been warmed by her knitting. Fran inspired with beautiful slide shows illustrating scriptures and hymns. One of her greatest joys came from transforming real egg shells into works of art which she delighted in giving away to family and friends. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, August 16, 2018 one hour prior (10-11am) to the funeral service taking place at Metropolitan United Church, 468 Wellington Street, London, ON N6A 3P8 at 11 am. CARRUTHERS, Kay….
Peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at University Hospital, London, Catherine “Kay” Carruthers of Richmond Woods in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Charles “Bruce” Carruthers (2002). Loving mother of Susan, Lizbeth and Becky Carruthers, all of London. Cherished gramma of Lauren (Jeff), Josh (Kristin), Alex (Jordan) and great gammy of Carter and Rori. Sister-in-law of Ruth Butt. Predeceased by her siblings Margaret, Bill, and Elmer. Will be dearly missed by loved cousins, nieces and nephews. In 1980 mother began her career with Mary Kay Cosmetics which became a lifelong opportunity and in 1988 she debuted as a Sales Director. Among her many accomplishments, perhaps her most treasured gift was the ability to make everyone feel special. She loved Mary Kay and her wonderful MK family and truly personified the woman that their founder envisioned. As a longtime member of Metropolitan United Church mother worked with socially deprived children and began her sponsorship of third world children. In the late 60’s Metropolitan along with other churches helped to adjust families coming over from Vietnam. Mom was instrumental in settling a family of seven in their new environment. It was such a rewarding time for her. A lifelong member of the Garden Club, mom celebrated her 40th anniversary with them in 2015. It was through her affiliation with the Garden Club and the Art Gallery that mother travelled to London, New York and Italy. The family would like to sincerely thank the multiple caregivers that provided great care to mom over the last couple of years. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. Proud grandma of Kristen and Hilary of London and Kyle, Duncan, Aidan Abby and Gillian of Tiverton. Dear sister of the late Jean Watson and her husband the late Bill Watson. Caring aunt of Pat Tubman and her husband Eric and their children James and Carolyn of Elmvale, Barbara Brooks and her husband Larry and their children Jennifer, Matthew and Sarah of Sudbury and Janet Hunt and her husband Declan and her great nephews Kieran and Conor and Wanda Clarke all of London. 1932-2018The family announces with deep sorrow the death of Lois Buchanan (nee Nesbitt) on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 86 at Victoria Hospital, London. Lois fought a brave battle with an aggressive cancer. She faced the battle with the same determination and humour she lived her life. Lois was born in the town of Cache Bay, Ontario, a small town of 600 people near North Bay. She was a proud member of the Canadian Air Force at the age of 19 and was stationed in France and Germany. Upon leaving the Air Force she settled in Montreal before moving to London where she lived for more than 50 years, raising her sons, working in various fields and making many friends through her long life. Lois is survived by her sons Dean (Sherry) and Todd (Wendy) and two grandchildren Courtney (Josh) and Tyler (Beth), in addition to two great-grandchildren Xavier and Braedyn. She has two sisters-in-law, Merna Nesbitt and Judy Nesbitt and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents John and Clara Nesbitt, her brothers Arden, Terry and John and her sister-in-law Nellie. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Union Cemetery, Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. Peacefully at Marion Villa on Thursday, June 21, 2018, Anna Georgina (Jorgensen) Busby in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Edgar “Ed” Busby (2013). Loving mother of Keith Busby and his wife Janet of Ottawa and Len Busby and his wife Lorraine of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Cherished grandmother of Jon, Alysha and Luke. Predeceased by her siblings Bertha Dixon and Harold Jorgensen. Anna was born and raised in Saskatchewan. During her 70 years of marriage she lived in Kingston, Calgary, Trail B.C., Edmonton, Drummondville Q.C. and Etobicoke, before retiring with Ed in London. She was always an active member of the United Church and a lifelong member of the UCW. Anna loved curling, bridge, sewing and cooking. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at Riverside United Church, 695 Riverside Drive, London, ON N6H 2S3. Peacefully surrounded by his family in London, on Sunday, June 17, 2018, Ethan Scott in his 16th year. Loving son of Robin “Nikki” (Gosnell) Scott (Shawn) and Chris Scott. Cherished brother of Madison and Morgan. Happy grandson of Joan and Allan Gosnell, Carolyn and Douglas Scott, great-grandson of Helen and Norman McEachran and Erlene Gosnell (the late Frank). Favourite nephew of Josh Gosnell and Mike Scott (Tanya), cousin Jessica and many other family members and friends. Will be sadly missed by furry companions Zeus and Lexi. Ethan was a happy, easy going, lovable ladies man who enjoyed hugs. Ethan enjoyed many activities including music, archery, sit skiing, horseback riding and most of all baseball.
