Reverend Dr. George Crowell
CROWELL, Rev. Dr. George Harvey, (87) beloved husband of Donna Beneteau Crowell, father of Sarah (Mary), Beki (Sherman), Joanna, Daniel (Melanie) and Mary Beth (Shawn). Dearly loved grandfather of Chaz, Noah, and Kai Evans; Holly Crowell; Neo James; and, Emma and Zoe Crowell. Predeceased by parents Anna and John B. Crowell. Survived by brothers John, David, and sister Cathy Mann and their children.
George graduated from Princeton University and Union Theological Seminary (NYC). Ordained a Presbyterian Minister, he moved soon to teaching social ethics at Lake Forest College and the College of Wooster before joining the Religious Studies Department at the University of Windsor where he taught social ethics until his retirement. He focused on issues of peace and justice, environmental protection, racial harmony, and, for the last 20 years, on the necessity for a change in monetary policy as essential for a just society and the preservation of the social safety net for all Canadians.
He was a dedicated activist supporting the work of many social justice organizations including the London and District Labour Council, The Society of Christian Ethics, the Council of Canadians, the Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform (C.O.M.E.R.), and a remnant community of Christ Church at Maple View Terrace in London.
George expressed great gratitude for all the care he has received from so many dedicated health professionals and for our Canadian Health Care system which he worked hard to support and enhance through Monetary Reform.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, August 20, 2018 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 397 Springbank Drive, London, Ontario, N6J 1G7. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM and the service begins at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.

In her 104th year, Georgia passed away peacefully at Chelsey Park Long Term Care on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Fred Nicholls (1960). Dear mother of Bob Nicholls (Wendy) of Sarnia and Karen Ariesen (the late Karl) of London. Also loved by her grandchildren Taylor Nicholls (Sarah), April Nicholls, Kim Ariesen, Kelly Ariesen Thomas (Randy) and Krista Ariesen (Aaron Rake) and her great-grandchildren Brianne, Kierra, Jodi, Zachary and Zephy. Predeceased by her brother Chatterson Fletcher and sisters Margaret Burden and Vera Bentley. Georgina was a devoted nurse at Westminster Veterans Hospital in London for many years. After a short battle, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, Ron Burch passed away in his 68th year. Beloved husband of Deb Burch for 46 years. Dear father of Gary and Dan. Cherished Poppy of Aronica, Kayla, Gunnar, Braiden and Daniel. And great-grandfather of Dakota. Brother of Harry Burch (Darla) and Dona McGregor (late Wayne) and brother-in-law of Brenda Newby and Wayne (Candy) Barker. Predeceased by his sister Marlene. Ron retired from the City of London after 36 years of service. A special thank you is extended to the doctors and nurses of the 10th floor at University Hospital, London for their kindness and care. Harold Jackson of London passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, into the presence of his Lord in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Greta (Deeves) Jackson for 70 years. Loving father of David Jackson and his wife Sheila and Cathy Penfound and her husband Kevin all of Mt. Brydges. Dear Papa of Ryan (Karissa), David (Vivienne), Jonathan (Bethany) and missed by his great-grandchildren Tyler, Kyran, Marlie, Samuel and Finley. Dear brother of Mary Strickland of London. Predeceased by his brothers Matthew, Herbert and Eric. Harold along with his wife Greta directed Forest Cliff Camp for many decades. His joy was to introduce children to his Saviour the Lord Jesus. Suddenly at home with his wife by his side on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, Barry Marles of London in his 66th year. Beloved husband of Wendy for 42 years. Loving father of Rob, Greg and his wife Alaina, and James and his wife Malisa. Adored by his granddaughters Lily, Samantha, Emma and Olivia. Will be dearly missed by his daughter-in-law Laura, his brother-in-law Gary and his wife Julia Howard, his niece Bri, and his many friends and neighbours. Barry “Mongo” Marles was a long-time radio producer, Scout leader and hobbyist. He was an avid camper and loved spending time with his family. Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Monday, July 9, 2018, Elizabeth “Betty” Whittington of London, Ontario, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Glenn (1990). Cherished mother of Debra and Frank Rastin of Belmont, Nancy and Rick Killby of St. Catharines, and Mary-Liz and Joe Whalls of London. Predeceased by her daughter Susan (2006). Special Grandma to 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and 3 great-grandchildren. Dear sister to Donna McRitchie, Patricia Noftle, and Ruth Demaiter. Predeceased by her sister Isabelle Flight and brother Lloyd Haskell. She will also be forever remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Betty worked for Bell Canada for over 40 years. Following her retirement, Betty enjoyed many years of playing bridge with her friends.
