FIRBY, Charles Reginald “Reg”…

Surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Parkwood Institute, Charles Reginald “Reg” Firby in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Joyce M. (Whitehouse) Firby. Loving father to five wonderful children, Linda (Chris), Jo-Ann (Collin), Gary (Robyne), Kenneth (Cheryl) and Douglas (Vicky). Missed by sisters Kathleen Chamberlain, Pauline Paterson, Ruby Silcox, and sister-in-law Chris. Loved and missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Grace Firby, brother Donald and his brothers-in-law Carl, Bill and Bob. Reg met Joyce Whitehouse in England during the war where he was a member of the RCAF 423 Squadron Coastal Command and the two were married August 4, 1945. He was a long time employee of Ontario Hydro and for many years served as the chief steward of the union. Reg was extremely involved in his community as a charter member of Owen Sound Roxy Little Theatre, President of Owen Sound Kinsmen Club, coaching minor sports in Owen Sound. He remained an avid golfer, especially after moving back to London. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkwood on 2 Perth for their compassionate and loving care of Reg over the period of his residency there. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. McNAB, Ross…

At home, on Sunday, June 30, 2019, David Ross McNab of London in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Fern McNab. Loving father of Scott McNab of Calgary, Michael Sealy of London, Kevin Sealy of Guelph and Kristine McNab of London. Will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Mitchell, Logan, Rachel, Kaitlin, Jaxx, Hunter and Skyla. Dear brother of Jeannie Hastings of Calgary. Predeceased by his son Eric McNab. Ross was a Lieutenant Commander and worked as a pilot in the Navy for 25 years. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Ross will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 615 Base Line Road East, London, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11 am with Bishop Tim Layne officiating. ODDIE, Doreen Marguerite (nee Rowe)…
March 15, 1931 – June 29, 2019

Peacefully at Extendicare London, on Saturday, June 29, 2019 Doreen Oddie (nee Rowe) in her 89th year. Beloved wife to the late J. Douglas “Doug” Oddie. Loving and beloved mother of Jan (Dwight Smith), David (Rae Thompson) and Cam. Grandmother to Dexter and Jackson Oddie and Nicki Smith (Joe McDonnell). Great-grandmother to Colin and Hazel. Sister to Joyce (Andy Lindsay), and sister-in-law to Marion (nee Oddie) and Keith Gummo. Aunt and Great-aunt to many loved nieces and nephews. Doreen grew up on the family farm of her parents Ada (nee Dickinson) and Carleton ‘Buster” Rowe, just outside of Campbellford, Ontario. She and Doug, whose family farm was also there, met at school and married in 1951. Doug’s work with the Bank of Montreal moved Doug and Doreen to several communities in Ontario as their family grew. In every community, they formed warm and lasting friendships. Doreen and Doug moved to London from St.Catharines in 1981. When Doug died in 1986, Doreen remained in London, working at Eaton’s until her retirement. In retirement, Doreen continued to lead an active social life, bowling, golfing, practising yoga, gardening, going dancing with friends, travelling with two good friends, walking, going to bingo and attending church. A gifted gardener, she could make any plant thrive. Doreen was an outstanding cook and her table was the site of many a memorable and delectable family feast. Doreen loved music and pets, and was never without a cat until the last few years of her life. Kindness and grace were at the heart of Doreen’s sociable and generous personality. She was a good neighbour, a wonderful friend, and most of all a supportive, caring wife and mother. In her final years, dementia and physical issues darkened her experience of the world but never dimmed the light she shone. The family offers heartfelt thanks to staff at Chelsey Park, University Hospital and Extendicare, for the kind, professional care they provided to Doreen. Cremation has taken place. Interment at Burnbrae Cemetery in Campbellford, Ontario to take place at a later date. Family and friends are welcomed for a Celebration of Life on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 3-5pm at the A. Millard George Reception Centre (located on the Southeast corner of the funeral home parking lot), 60 Ridout Street South, London. Guests are encouraged to wear Doreen’s favorite color blue. Suddenly at home on Friday, June 28, 2019, David Matthews passed in his 72nd year. Cherished brother of Deanna and Steve (Lynne). Loving uncle to Jackie, Michelle, Chris (Kathy), Lisa (Ben) and Dean. Great uncle to Dylan, Tyson, Desmond and Isla. Predeceased by parents Elizabeth and Leo and sister Frances. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to everyone he knew. ROGOZINSKI, Richard “Rick” …
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of our beloved Rick on Thursday, June 20, 2019. Predeceased by his parents Marion and Adam. Brother of Jim (the late Bev) and Diane (Bill) Smith. Uncle of Melissa (Steve) Burdick, the late Jennifer and Amanda (Jeff) Wilson. Great Uncle to Kayla, Jessica, Brittney, David and Jacob. Rick belonged to a numerous amount of groups including: Rotary club of Strathroy, London Pro Musica Choir, choir at Thamesview United Church in Fullarton, Thames River United Church, Taught at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute and Strathroy Board of Trade. Also involved in a multitude of other musical and theatre groups over the years. Loved by students and teachers spanning from 1977 when he started in Strathroy to today as he was still volunteering. He chaperoned many student trips while teaching and during retirement. He also enjoyed many camping and golfing trips. He was a good friend to so many and was deeply loved by his family, friends and anyone who ever had the privilege of meeting him. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 3-5pm at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, 361 Second Street, Strathroy, ON N7G 3H8. The Celebration of Life will be broadcasted live at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 5Z9 on Friday, June 28, 2019 starting at 3pm. Lorraine Mary Erickson (nee Cassin) passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at University Hospital, London in her 90th year. Lorraine was the life-long friend of David Morgan for 21 years. They thoroughly enjoyed their time together, often travelling together and even teaching in China for 4 years. Lorraine is survived by her daughter Dawna Erickson, her brother Kenneth Cassin, and her sisters Marjorie Bennet and Beverly Henry and she will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Francis and Mary Cassin and her 3 brothers, Francis, Raymond and Albert Cassin.
