CORNISH, Carman …
Carman passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 14, 2019  in his 92nd year.  Loving husband of Betty for over 67 years – “To have and to hold”.  Proud father of Geoffrey, Carol (Robert Salmon), Roger (Patricia), Sally (Chandran Chelladurai) and Wendy Reed.  Carman will also be missed dearly by his grandchildren Charlie, Eleanor, Sandi, Dean, Jasmin, Lindsay, Gregory, Daniel, Andrew, Michelle, Jillian and Joel, and great grandchildren Jacob, Ella, Ainsley, Sadie, Claire and Abigail. Carman was one of 10 children and is survived by his sisters Audrey Gray and Marjorie Vickers. Carman was an elementary school teacher and principal with the London Board of Education where his quiet, competent manner made a positive difference in so many students’ and colleagues’ lives. Carm and Betty spent many summers taking their family (5 kids, dog and cat) on camping adventures all across Canada. After his retirement Carm enjoyed even more time doing what he loved: playing and watching sports (especially hockey, curling, baseball and golf), photography and fishing on Georgian Bay.  Most of all he cherished time with his grandchildren. Carman had a strong Christian faith and has been an active member of his church for many years.  Please join us for a Celebration of Carm’s Life on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, 111 Elmwood Avenue East, London. FOUNTAIN, John K….

Unexpectedly, on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Victoria Hospital, London, John passed in his 79th year. John will be missed by his nieces Elaine Wake and her husband Jim and Patricia Weatherby and her husband Keith and by his great nieces and nephews James, Jonathan, Ruth and Tammy. John will be fondly remembered by his lifelong childhood friend Jay Hunt. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Fountain, sisters Mary Rowlands and Ida Groshok and nephew Bob Rowlands. John was a faithful member of Calvary United Church, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the outdoors, a skilled woodworker and gas fitter by trade. GAMBLE, George….

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, George Gamble passed away on October 10, 2019 in his 80th year. Dear brother of Ron Gamble (Loida Maritza Coto Solis). Cherished uncle of Timothy Michael Gamble and Ronald George Gamble. Close friend of Kevin Diachina. George will also be missed by his numerous cousins and their families. George was a committed man and spent 34 years working for United Agri Products as a Senior Auditor in Environmental Health and Safety. As many know, George was also an avid golfer, so during your next round please keep him in your thoughts. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the A. Raymond W. Webber

Passed peacefully on October 9, 2019 at home in London, Ontario.

Ray will be dearly missed by wife Rita nee Eman, children Glenn (Maureen), Rae Lynne (Craig), Kenn, Maura (Brian), Alexandra Joy (Mohamed), and his grandchildren Scott, Colleen, Kelsey, Kyla and Quinn.

He will be missed by his sister Loraine (Terry), nieces Heather Lynn (Jari) and Sherri Lee.  Pre-deceased by sister Irene, brother-in-law Brian, and nephew Todd.

Fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

As the last surviving member of the Dirty Dozen golf gang, we know he is enjoying the 19th hole in heaven with his buddies.

Cremation has taken place and a private internment will be held at a later date.

SANDS, Ruth E…

After a brief illness, peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at St. Thomas Elgin Hospital, Ruth Elizabeth Sands, aged 72. Special sister of Lois Wall (Jeff). Predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Phyllis Sands of London. Ruth liked bright colours, picnics, playing the piano and making music. She will be missed by her friends at Chester Residence, Bible Baptist Church, St. Andrew’s United Church in St. Thomas and remembered at Faith Chapel in London. We mourn her loss while knowing she is in a better place, safe in the arms of her Lord. Friends and Guests will be welcomed for visiting on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 9:30-11:30 am at the A. WATTERTON, Norman Edward…

Norman Edward, 94, peacefully after a short battle with cancer, on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. Loving husband of Edith Keating. Pre-deceased by his wife Eleanor (2004), his parents Edward (1979) and Myrtle (1986), his sister Lois (2017) and his daughter-in-law Karen (2001). Dedicated and loving father of his four sons Greg (Lina), Jeff (Jennifer), Chris (Mary Janet) and John (Kelly). Grandfather of Scott (Jen), Megan (Kaveh) and Brett, Paisley (Eduardo) and Cory, Brennyn, Avyn, Jessie and Adam, Erin (Danny), Katie (Nick), Lauren and Ryan. Great-grandfather of Violet and Freya, and uncle of Joan and Carol. Loved and respected friend of the Keating family. Norm was a loyal employee of Nash Jewellers for 44 years, including Manager from 1978 to his retirement in 1993. In addition, he was a long time member of the Middlesex Masonic Lodge No. 379. Norm served as Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Force 1943 to 1945. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice for the care and compassion they showed. COREY, Len….

Peacefully with this family by his side on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Victoria Hospital, London, Leonard Corey passed away in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Lois (Burton) Corey for 56 years. Cherished father of Alan Corey (Amy Lynn), Paul Corey (Bonnie), Lana Kowolski (Kevin), and Dr. David Corey (Jill McLeod). Loving grandpa of 7 grandchildren and G.P. of 3 great-grandchildren. Dearly missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Robert Corey, his brother William Corey and granddaughter Amber Corey-Crossett.

During his life Len worked for many companies and had the opportunity to travel the world for his job. He was also a long-time Mason and Shriner and in his later years and during retirement, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida for 20 years. He was an avid golfer, obtained his real estate license, enjoyed wood carving and his sense of humour served him well all of his life. Len was also an adherent to Elmwood Presbyterian Church. Through the Alzheimer’s program Len gained a true friend, Lucas, and enjoyed his weekly visits with him over 4 years. The family wishes to thank McCormick Home and the palliative care unit at Victoria Hospital for all of the kindness and compassionate care.

Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 2-3 pm at Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, 111 Elmwood Avenue East, London, ON N6C 1J4 where the memorial service will be held at 3 pm. TRIBE, Hazel Bernice…

August 10, 1926 – September 29, 2019

Hazel Bernice Tribe died in London, ON after a brief illness. She was predeceased in June 2018 by her husband of 69 years, Fred Tribe.

Hazel was born on her family’s farm in Kingsmill, ON, near St. Thomas, ON, to Charlie and Carrie Smith (nee Howe).  Hazel is predeceased by a sister, Ruth Perry, and is survived by her sister, Jean Cornish.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marie Hartney and brother-in-law Doug Groat. She and Fred raised their three children in Ridgetown:  Kevin (Kathy), Joanne Foster (Tony Vercouteran) and Terry Tribe.  They were proud grandparents to Laura (Josh Tabish), Eric and Alex.  Hazel will be missed by many nieces and nephews after decades of “Tribe” gatherings.

When WWII ended, Fred learned a trade and they moved to Ridgetown, ON to open their paint and wallpaper store.  Fred did the manual labour with his crew and Hazel did the bookkeeping along with the essential homemaking chores.  Later, Hazel found other work to help support her family including preparing meals in the cafeteria at “the Ag School” (now the University of Guelph).

Hazel loved feeding the birds, caring for their pet dogs, her outdoor gardens and indoor houseplants.  Always creative, Hazel was known for the special occasion cakes she decorated when she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham, ON.  After retirement, she and Fred travelled extensively in motorhomes across every province and state.  They never met a stranger and enjoyed reunions with camping friends year after year until they hung up their keys for good.  

During the last month of her life, Hazel shared this quote often: “Every moment is a new memory; enjoy the moment”.  Not everyone makes new friends at an advanced age, but Hazel sure did.  She brightened the lives of the staff and residents at Longworth and Westmount with her wit and her quick smile.

Peacefully with family by her side on Monday, September 23, 2019 at The Village of Glendale Crossing, Helen Budd in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Harold Budd. Dear mother of Michael Budd and his partner Linda Gignac of South Bruce Peninsula, Tim Budd and his husband Steven Miltimore of California, Barbara Condren and her husband Douglas of Penetanguishene, Shelley Budd of Montreal and Peter Budd of Toronto. Predeceased by her brothers Fred and Edwin Nabert. Much loved Grandma of ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Guests will be received by the family on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 6-9 pm at the A. HAZZARD, Howard…
Howard passed away in his 95th year, peacefully, at Parkwood Hospital, London on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Survived by Bernice Brown (nee McComb) and family, and grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Bernadette (2008). Howard served with the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War, was a member of the 427 (London) Wing and retired from Canada Post in 1987. Howard was an avid sports fan, cheering on the London Knights and following the NHL for many years. Howard enjoyed travelling the world and exploring the outdoors. Howard was Past Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 209a and Past Grand Patron for the Ontario Order of the Eastern Star 1993-94. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 12-1 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London.  An Eastern Star Service under the Orphah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 102 will be conducted in the funeral home chapel beginning at 1 pm (all welcome). Followed by the funeral service. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
