Obituary
BAILIE, Travis…
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Travis Bailie, of London, Ontario, on August 26, 2026, at the age of 55, following a brief and intense battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and friends.
Travis was born on March 20, 1971, in London, Ontario, to James and Patricia Bailie (Barrett).
Travis married Tammy Corbett in 2004 after the two met at the London Theatre Fringe Festival in 2001. He was a loving father to Adele, Elise, and Matthew Corbett. His greatest joy and, at times, his greatest source of stress, was raising two creative, dynamic, and wonderful people. His love of art, music, and nature can be seen in each of his children and in the passions they pursue.
Travis was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Elise, in 2011. He leaves behind his wife, Tammy; his daughter, Adele; his son, Matthew; his siblings, Alison Archer (Al) and David Bailie; nieces and nephews Lauren, Amanda, and Austin Bailie, and Owen and Zoey Archer; and countless friends who were deeply loved and valued by him.
His friendships were long, steadfast, and deeply meaningful. Almost so many to mention. But among them was his eternal friend Sam Shoebottom, who was also the godfather to all of his children.
Travis will be lovingly remembered by the many performers, directors, and crew members he worked alongside throughout his years with London Theatre. If you were lucky enough to catch him in those early Fringe days or in a black-box theatre, you may have seen him in Creatures, The Underachievers, or Lady Windermere’s Fan, to name just a few. Those performances and the community he found through theatre were among the most cherished times of his life.
Throughout his life, Travis was known for his kindness, humour, and loyalty. He loved connecting with friends over D&D and Pathfinder games and would often say that the connections made with others were the best part of the journey. And for his final roll, he wanted to say, “I cast FIREBALL!”
If Travis could walk a trail, alone or with his family, he felt at ease and connected. The numerous pictures Tammy took of his backside as he walked ahead on the trail was not his favouite part. On weekends or on a rare day off, he simply wanted to be outside. His deep connection to nature could be seen in his backyard, where he carefully propagated and nurtured several maple trees that he had grown from keys collected from his favourite tree.
Travis was a passionate collector of music that spanned decades and genres. It was not the digital kind. He loved music you could hold in your hands, read the liner notes for, and admire the cover art of. Music was a source of comfort and healing for him. In his final weeks and days, he quietly listened to the songs that carried so many memories, including the children’s songs Adele and Matthew had asked him to play over and over and over again.
Drawing and artist magazines and books were always finding their way through the door. Travis was inspired by artists who were able to devote their lives to perfecting their creative passions. He dreamed of having more time to pursue his own artistic work, and he often wished he had been able to make more space for that part of himself.
Perhaps one of the greatest lessons he leaves behind is this: don’t wait for the perfect time or opportunity to pursue the things that bring you joy. Make the time. Follow the passion. Create.
Work never defined Travis, and he never wanted it to. What mattered to him were the people. Whether working for the City of London or with smaller companies, he cared far more about the people he worked alongside and the people he was able to help than about the job itself. His greatest measure of a day was the connection he made with others.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and care teams at London Health Sciences Centre and Victoria Hospital, including the surgical team, cancer support, palliative care, and end-of-life care teams. At every step, we were grateful for your kindness, compassion, and the comfort you provided to Travis and to our family.

Travis Bailie wanted nothing more than to give his children every opportunity in life. Above all, he dreamed of seeing Adele and Matthew pursue the best post-secondary education possible and follow their own dreams.
These funds will be invested to support Adele’s continuing education and Matthew’s future education, helping to carry Travis’s dream for his children forward.
He would be deeply honoured by your support and by helping this dream become a lasting part of his legacy. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ensure that Travis continues to be part of their futures in this very meaningful way.

While working with Travis at the City I admired his balance of life and work, putting family first. His work was top notch and he made so many meaningful contributions to our systems over the years. My sincere condolences to his family. We always knew of his love for you all!
Dear Bailie Family,
My sincere condolences to your family during this difficult time. Travis was a wonderful co-worker and friend, and I will remember him for his patience, kindness, and caring nature. He was always willing to help and provide support when asked. I especially remember the wise reminders he shared with me to look at the whole picture and not jump to conclusions. I learned so much from him as we worked together to restore order and resolve issues in Xplor Recreation. He was incredibly smart and knowledgeable, and I will also remember the many laughs we shared during those times. I’m truly sorry for your loss. Travis will be missed. Praying that the Lord would bring you comfort and peace.
Tammy, I am so sorry to hear this. May you find comfort in the memories you shared. My prayers are with you and your family
Although I’ve only worked with Matthew for the past few weeks. The Great Gatsby, I see a lot of passion in his eyes for someone his age. Now knowing that so much of his dad is in him, it breaks my heart to hear that Travis passed away. I hope Matthew can find it in his heart to continue doing what he loves, not only for his father, but for himself too. My heart goes out to this family, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one is an easy, let alone a husband and a father.
