Obituary
ASTLES, Reta Netanis…
We are grateful for the life of Reta Netanis Astles (nee Mayberry), who passed away peacefully at her residence at Grand Wood Park in London on February 29, 2024, at the age of 103. A resident of Windsor for most of her life, Reta was predeceased by her husband George Astles and their son David Astles. She is survived by her daughter Karen Butt (Bill), four grandchildren, and nine beloved great grandchildren. Reta worked for many years at the Windsor office of what was then Ontario Hydro, and in her spare time enjoyed knitting, reading, her United Church, and warm-weather activities at her family cottage at Invercairn Beach on Lake Huron. Many will remember and miss her humour, kindness, loyalty, common sense and community spirit. Cremation has taken place and a family ceremony of interment will take place at a later date at Victoria Memorial Cemetery in Windsor. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Dear Karen & Bill
My deepest sympathy on the passing of your Mom. What a long life she had. It is a tribute to her that you were so attentive to her needs. Conversations at Book Club and your hospitality at your cottage sharing stories of your Mom and her regular visits to the cottage are a testament to much love shared. You will miss her
Rita was my Sunday school teacher way back in the 50s at St. Paul’s United Church on Pillette Rd. in Windsor. We were a group of girls who were close to each other and – we still are after over 70 years. Rita was a person we all remembered as kind and caring. I know she tried to keep track of us long after we grew up, married, and left Windsor. Fond memories. I’m glad she lived such a long life. Harlene Annett (nee Allchin) in Peterborough, Ontario.
My goldenseal to the longest grandwood park resident I have taken care of , you have made me laugh and always asking about my kids. I temeber when you knotted me a little pink hat and inside was somwthing special for my first born. I will forever miss you rest in sweetest peace . Carrie
Very fond memories of Aunt Reta and Uncle George from the cottage. Aunt Reta taught Betty 2 how to knit and taught me to play solitaire at their kitchen table at Invercairn.
She had a great life, thanks to her loving family!
I remember your Mother fondly as she listened repeated to Peter, Paul and Mary records during our ‘folk song’ phase in high school. Both your parents had a long wonderful life.
