Obituary
MCROBERTS, R. Wayne
1943-2024
It is with heavy hearts and extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of R. ‘Wayne’ McRoberts, in his 82nd year, on May 12, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 62 years Wendy (Griffith), their daughter Lee Butler, their daughter Jody McRoberts and her husband Dave Landrey and Grandsons Aaren and Ethan Butler. Wayne was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Wayne (1964), his parents Clarence & Sabra McRoberts and his sister Donna McFadden (Lou). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great friends.
Wayne was an incredible hardworking family man, doing anything his family wanted. You didn’t mention to him anything about wanting something or needing something done because he wouldn’t rest until that request had been taken care of.
After many successful and enjoyable years at Parnell Foods Wayne began a second career with the London Police Service where he was respected by all and worked until he officially retired in 2006. Since that time Wayne and Wendy had great retirement years, taking many, many trips and enjoying the incredible oasis of their backyard where they entertained family and friends. Everyone was welcome.
Wayne was truly the most loving man you could ever meet and expressed to everyone, family or friend how much they meant to him, but none more so than that of his grandsons Aaren and Ethan, they were his world and the memories that Poppa made with them, and all that were close to him, will be cherished forever.
Our family wants to thank the wonderful University Hospital 9th floor Orthopedics PSW and Nursing staff team for the care and support that they showed not only to Wayne, but to all of us during the past few weeks.
Family and friends are welcomed to visitation on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 pm, with interment in Woodland Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Humane Society London & Middlesex or Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre or to a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family. Wendy, Lee, Aaron, Ethan, Jody and Dave. My deepest sympathy on Wayne’s passing. He had a kind, gentle soul about him, always smiling, ready to lend a hand. We are now left with great memories of his time with us. May he rest in eternal peace.
Lee and family, I was blessed to enjoy Wayne’s friendship at the London Police Service and I always thought “Wayne would have been an outstanding Police Officer, (with his affable personality and common sense) and I will cherish my memory of your father. Lee, I leave you with one more thought: “If they were like all like your dad, we would not need a Police Service.” Respectfully yours, Rick Niles (Ret. Sergeant LPS 1969-2002)
