Obituary
Mizzen, Mary Jane….
Following a life well lived and full of love, Mary Jane Mizzen passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by family. Mary Jane Mizzen (née Thibert) was born in 1947 in Windsor, Ontario, to Clarence and Jean Thibert. She later moved to London, where she met the love of her life and devoted husband, Terry. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, friendship, and quiet generosity. Mary Jane and Terry had a special relationship that one can only dream of. They enjoyed travelling extensively but also took great pleasure in life’s simple pleasures, including sharing a cup of tea each day while completing daily word games.
Mary Jane was a deeply loving mother to her four sons: Michael (Kelly), Scott (Shari), Brent (Erica), and David (Dianamari). Nothing brought her greater joy than her role as “Grandma” to Brendan, Connor, Kyle, Kayla, Nicole, Caiden, Jacob, Emily, and Joaquin, all of whom she adored and spoke of with immense pride. She was a proud sister to Bob (Nancy) and Barb (Les). Dearly missed by her mother-in-law Mary and her sister-in-law Janice (Fred).
Mary Jane dedicated her life to caring for others. Mary Jane first trained as a nurse before selflessly pausing her career to raise her four boys. When the time was right, she returned to nursing, devoting more than 20 years to Palliative Care, where her compassion, kindness, and steady presence brought comfort to countless individuals and families during their most difficult moments.
During her brief illness, Mary Jane was surrounded by the people she loved most-her husband, children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, and many friends. True to who she was, even in her final days she focused not on herself, but on the well-being of others.
On Friday, April 3, Mary Jane spent a warm, sunny afternoon with her family celebrating Easter-an unexpected and precious gift that her family will cherish forever. She smiled, laughed, and enjoyed some of her favourite foods alongside Terry, her siblings, children, and grandchildren. Simple moments brought Mary Jane the greatest joy, and that afternoon reflected the life she lived. More than once that afternoon, she paused and said, “Isn’t this unbelievable?”-a sentiment that perfectly captured her gratitude and love for her family in those final days.
Mary Jane and Terry shared many happy years curling at the Ilderton Curling Club, where they formed lasting friendships. Her curling career fittingly ended on a high note, earning seven points in a single end-an achievement made even more meaningful as she courageously continued to compete despite her cancer diagnosis.
Mary Jane and her family are grateful for the outpouring of love and support that they received from family and friends during her final days. The family is also profoundly grateful for the exceptional, compassionate care provided by St. Joseph’s Hospice of London, including the dedicated staff and the many volunteers whose warmth and generosity brought comfort to Mary Jane and her loved ones. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nelson Chan for his kind, attentive, and deeply respectful care.
In lieu of flowers, Mary Jane and her family kindly ask that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice of London, in appreciation of the care provided to patients and families during life’s most tender moments.
Mary Jane will be remembered for her gentle heart, unwavering devotion to family, and a lifetime spent caring for others. Her love lives on in every life she touched.
Friends will be received by the family from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The Celebration of Mary Jane’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00 am. For those unable to attend in person, the Celebration of Life Service will be livestreamed on the AMG Funeral Home YouTube channel. Private Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London.

To Mary Jane’s Family:
Words come to mind about her with so much love and kindness.
I have been honoured to know Mary Jane for about 10 years through meeting at Ilderton Curling Club.
She was my first skip after 25 years of being away from the game. She actually held my hand stepping on the ice alongside Dan Prohaska.
We shared a common link as we are both retired nurses and the stories we shared after our games were…hilarious.
She asked me to spare for her recently on Tuesday March 24th. I would do anything for you Mary Jane I told her. I had no idea what she was facing and she didn’t mention it.
My heartfelt condolences to you Terry and your amazing families. She always spoke about all of you with so much pride and love. You could feel it when she smiled about all of you.
May the Lord hold her in the palm of his hand and raise her up on Eagles wings.
Terry & family so sorry for your loss. Mary Jane was a nursing classmate who attended all of our reunions and luncheons, one this very week. She will be truly missed.
Terry, it is very sadness that we are passing on our sympathies on your loss of a great partner in life. Gone way too soon. Sending our thoughts a prayers to you and the family. Keith and Anne Lawson.

Our deepest condolences to Terry and his family over the loss of Mary Jane. Her brother Bob is our neighbour and we worked/volunteered with Mary Jane and Terry at the ‘soup kitchen’ on Dundas Street for many years. Mary Jane was always smiling as she helped others in need. Rest in peace.
To Terry and family please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of Mary Jane. Take care.
So very sorry to learn of Mary Jane’s passing! We’d like to express our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Mary Jane was a special person and you two shared an unusually strong and close bond. You are fortunate to have such a large extended family – they will always be there showing the strong and welcome support that a close knit family brings. I know it may sound trite – but Mary Jane was obviously too well loved to ever be forgotten. May she Rest In Peace.
Dear Terry & family
Sending you my sincere condolences on the loss of Mary Jane.
I will miss seeing her at the curling club, on the ice and in the locker room.
She always had a smile to greet you with.
It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Mary Jane. We send our condolences to Terry and the family.
Terry and family. Mary Jane and I trained together @ St Joseph’s. We always had a great visit at our reunions and luncheon. Her love for all of her family was so evident when she spoke of you. She was a special lady and will be missed. I would like to offer my sincere condolences. Carolyn and Bill Woodburn
I attended the same curling club as Mary Jane. This year I was on her Social league team for the first draw. Mary Jane was an awesome skip and I found her to be both warm and decisive as our leader. I will always remember her when I pull out her turkey soup recipe she shared with me after hearing of my soup disasters! Rest in peace, my friend. I am thankful I got to know you,
Scott and Family, our sincerest condolences on the loss of your family matriarch. A read of the obituary certainly showcases just how lovely a person she must have been. May your memories of her fill the void in your hearts.
