Obituary
JOHNSON, Jon …
We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our special guy Jon Paul Johnson who departed Monday, July 14, 2025, in London at the age of 68.
The World’s Best Dad to Lily and Betty Johnson, he was dedicated to his daughters every second of every day. They will miss him forever and will never forget what his love and affection felt like.
Loving older brother to his cherished sisters Sigrun (Brian Hughson) & Sue (Barry Richard), the three of them shared a bond like no other. Eccentric and doting Uncle to his beloved nieces and nephew Kaelen Hughson (Lise), Roberta Hughson, Pauline Richard (Tom), Liam Zelinski and Alex Zelinski. Loving Great-Uncle to May, Ethan and Emma. Cherished co-parent and eternal partner-in-crime with Stephanie Mitchell.
Ceaselessly curious about the world, he had the mind of an engineer and the compassion of a Saint. He never stopped wanting to understand the world and how it works. He was patient and kind. Quiet when he wanted to be, he turned into a Grade A chatterbox as he got older and loved opening people up- even strangers at the grocery store. He had a one of a kind sense of humor and loved to make people laugh with a sly joke or funny text. Impossibly sweet, he didn’t have a mean bone in his body and just wanted everyone to get along.
A pylon-antagonizer, cigar smoker, world’s slowest driver, podcast blaster, expert small talker, prolific Facebook Reel sender, red sock wearer, movie watcher, storm chaser, book worm, and skilled cabinet maker, he will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to call him a friend or family.
He is predeceased by his mother Pauline Johnson (née Lidkea), father Stefan Johnson, and younger sister Sigrun Hughson, all far too soon. He carried their memory with him everywhere he went just as we all will with his.
A private family interment has taken place in Woodland Cemetery where he is resting mere steps from his mother and father in a warm patch of sunlight.
A public Celebration of Life will take place at the German Canadian Club, 1 Cove Road, London, on Saturday July 26th, 2025, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Visitors are encouraged to share memories of Jon over some pierogies and a bottle of Labatt 50. Canadian tuxedos are strongly recommended but not mandatory.
In lieu of donations or flowers, we encourage people to carry on his legacy of generosity by buying someone a coffee or helping a stranger who might need a bit of kindness.
Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com
P.S. Dad… We found the salt you weren’t supposed to have in your nightstand….

Jonny, you were my go to when I needed a pick me up, a favour or information about any topic. You always made me feel secure and loved and like a cherished little sister. I loved and appreciated your relationship with Pauline, she and Tom both truly loved to be with you.
You set a beautiful example of how to love for Betty and Lily. I am forever grateful to have them as both of them have so much of you in them! You and Steph raised two beauties for sure!
Holidays and get togethers will never be the same but we will do our darndest to make sure they happen and that they are always full of joy!
You will always be missed. Fly high my big bro! xo
Jon Jon, to me you will always be. When Stephanie introduced you as Jon….Johnson, therefore Jon Jon, christened before my time, such a cherished moniker, it was adopted immediately. When you and Stephanie told me about your pregnancy, and that it was twins!!! I showed up at your place with two dill pickles, and you just sighed (as in oh, that old song and pony dance) and then laughed which in turn led to more laughter. You were so happy and excited to meet those two babies. Then came along Betty and Lily, two of the most amazing people on the planet, and you were so much apart of who they were, who they are, and who they become. You and Stephanie were amazing parents to “the girls” both together and apart. They always knew they had their folks behind them. The legacy you leave for them is deep and rich, which they will both draw from, and from which you provided.
I will truly miss your quick wit, and dry humour, you were such a part of our family, Christmases, birthdays, you name it’s that became family events. I am so glad that I got to spend these times with you Betty, Lily, Stephanie, Alex and Liam. You created a lot of memories for us to cherish. I hope we meet again, and when we do, we have got to agree to put the Jon Benet case to rest.
Much love, Carla
Dear Sue and family
I grew up calling Sigrun my friend spending many times at the Johnson home. A lovely close family who went through so much. We all thought Jon was SO cool in his quiet way, influencing his sister and I with his brand of rock music I didnt often hear at home. Jon and Sigrun are reunited watching over all of you now. I’m so sorry for your loss.
