Obituary
DOUGLAS, Jane Ann
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jane Ann Douglas on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025. Adored wife of Alec (W.A.B.) Douglas. Beloved mother of Mary Susan (Michel). Zachary and Hannah Farache crowned her Mumsie with their first words, and loved their grandmother dearly. Dear sister to the late Richard Middleton and the late Mary Jo Merton.
Jane Ann was an elegant and welcoming woman. She loved her garden and marvelled at the beauty of nature. She loved home, and family, and if you were her friend you were near and dear to her heart. Jane Ann had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. Socializing and laughter was a tonic for her. She loved a good party. She loved to be happy.
We have lost a strong force in our lives and she will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Anne’s Anglican Church (Byron), 1344 Commissioners Road West, London, Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Easter Seals Camp Woodeden or the Kimel Family Centre for Brain Research.
Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Dearest Mary Sue, Alec, Michel, Zach & Hannah, –
Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of the “Beautiful Jane Ann”. Allan and I are so fortunate to be considered a part of the Douglas family. One could not help but admire her zest for life and great joy she brought to all who knew her. We are truly blessed to have so many great memories with all of you. (The Christmas/Hanukkah we all spent at their home in Ottawa will be among our most cherished).
Mary Sue, your unwavering care for your mother through the good times and the difficult ones has shown what a remarkable and loving daughter you are.
And to All of You……May the good memories of her be in your hearts forever. Thank you all, for sharing her with us.
A good life well lived, Jane-Ann certainly was someone who was a carer from her nursing career to her family and friends. We saw her in the UK a number of times with Alec, my cousin and sometimes Mary-Sue, always happy times. It hasn’t been easy for her in recent years, she is now in a better place, RIP.
Dear Mary Sue
I was sad to read of the passing of your dear Mom. I remember her beautiful garden and elegant home in Ottawa. I have fond memories of a time she patiently tolerated 4 adolescent girls tumbling in the basement practicing our gymnastics routine followed by a fancy cut of tea in the kitchen. She always made us feel welcome. You will certainly miss her.

Dear Alec and Mary Susan, My profound condolences to you and your family on the loss of your beloved Jane Ann. I fondly remember walking her to Girl Guides in London, so many decades ago. When you lived in Ottawa, it was always a great pleasure to see my oldest friend. and I treasure her memory. Sincerely, Arthur
Jane Ann was always a smiling, chatty and friendly visitor at Harvest Moon Orchard. We have fond memories of the times when she and Alec stopped in there or at the Market! We’ve missed her and were sad to read of her passing.. Our sympathies to Alec and her family.
Mary Lynne and Randy
Dear Alec and Mary Susan, From the deep snows of Halifax in the late 1950s, through the parties of the 1960s, the misadventures aboard l’Aventure on the mighty Rideau and the Grey Cup games, Jane Ann and Alec were a warm presence in the lives of my parents and we three kids. Throughout it all, Jane Ann was a wry and witty commentator on the antics of our families, sharing eye rolls and rum and cokes with my mother. She bore the burden of being an Argonauts supporter in Ottawa with strength and conviction. I will miss her good humour and laughter. My sincere condolences.
