PATTON, Gord……
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Creighton Patton, age 97, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital, London, Ontario. Gord’s “larger-than-life” presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Born and raised in Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood, Gord made London his home for more than 65 years. Together with his lifelong friend and business partner, Ron Logan, they built Patton’s Place Ltd. into one of Canada’s largest independent furniture and appliances stores. Their friendship remained a treasured part of his life. Fittingly, the company’s well-known slogan, “One Stands Out,” seemed to describe Gord himself. Gord embraced life with enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of fun. He loved a good gin martini, sunshine, world travel and his longtime membership at the London Hunt and Country Club. Friendship was one of the great joys of Gord’s life. His legacy lives on through his remarkable resilience, quiet fortitude and an appreciation of life that never left him, even in his later years. Gord knew he had lived a full and blessed life and ended each day with heartfelt gratitude. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 33 years, Kathryn (née McLeod); his children, Kirby Patton; Heidi Patullo (Robert Short); Blair Patton (Jaime Scidmore); Marcy Demelo; and Hilary Patton (Penelope Simons). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Rémy, Scott, Emma (Sean), Will (Abigail), Lilie, Sawyer and Malin; and his first great-granddaughter, Violet. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, Dianne Edwards (Dan Edwards), Wendy Jugovic (Ernie Jugovic); and dear friend Annabelle Logan, the wife of his deceased partner Ron. Predeceased by his former wife and the mother of his children, Janet Gutierrez; his sister, Ruby Riddell; his brother, John (Jack) Patton. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff who cared for Gord with compassion during his final days. He and Kathryn generously supported charitable initiatives close to their hearts, including Mission Services of London. In lieu of flowers for those wishing to honour Gord’s memory, donations to Mission Services of London would be greatly appreciated. A private service will be held. A. My sincere condolences to Mr. Patton’s family. I had the pleasure of working at Patton’s Place back in the 80’s. Mr. Patton and Mr. Logan were remarkable business leaders who were kind and generous with their staff and customers. Such great memories!
Being an Employee at his store on Wharncliffe Rd for 20 years was a fun time.
Gord was always available for a chat, he did run a tight ship (so to speak) especially during all his warehouse sales.
His big smile could make your day.
Our deepest sympathy to his wonderful family and close friends.
Dear Kathryn
