Obituary
GREENFIELD, Glenn…
Peacefully at home and surrounded by his family, Glenn Greenfield passed away after his hard fought battle with cancer on Sunday, November 16, 2025 in his 61st year.
Beloved husband of Krista Greenfield (nee McLay) of 32 years. Cherished Father of Andrew, Christopher, Kinsey and her partner Marie Duguay. Devoted son of Ann Greenfield. A life long friend and brother to Richard Greenfield (Heather). Dependable son-in-law to Wallace and Rhonda McLay. Kind-hearted brother-in-law to John (Melinda) McLay and Andrea (Chad) More. A fun-loving uncle to Hope, Grace, John, Kate, and April. Good family friend of Terri Boulter. Predeceased by his father George Greenfield, brother John Greenfield, and step-father Gordon Parks.
A Sir Adam Beck Spartan and graduate of Central High School, Glenn went on to earn his Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. A proud member of Unifor Local 88, Glenn retired after 30 years at GM CAMI Assembly and took pride in meticulously maintaining his fleet of GM Vehicles in the driveway.
For over 40 years, Glenn was an active basketball referee with the London Board of Basketball Officials and contributed more than 30 years as an executive member.
Glenn was a devoted sports dad, always cheering on his children and lending a hand coaching his sons’ hockey teams. His passion for sports went beyond the family, following the London Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors, and Pittsburgh Steelers, and traveling across Canada and the U.S. to catch their games. Glenn also treasured yearly family trips to the Bruce Peninsula, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
In retirement, Glenn and Krista embraced travel, enjoying two trips to England, six cruises, and numerous sporting events with family and friends. At East Park Golf Course, Glenn stayed busy as a starter while also playing golf with great friends whenever possible, no matter the weather.
Glenn will be remembered as a kind and positive man, always ready to lend a hand or share a conversation. Known for his humour, and a joke you might hear more than once, he also gave selflessly, donating blood over 100 times throughout his life.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 11 am at Wesley-Knox United Church, 91 Askin Street, London. In memory of Glenn and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice. Thank you to the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre and the Palliative Care Team from Ontario Health at Home for your compassionate care. Glenn was an amazing brother-in-law and uncle to our family. We will love and miss him always. His memory will live forever in our hearts as we will always reflect back on our wonderful times together.
To the full Greenfield family – our deepest sympathies. You were loved so much by Glenn. It was inspirational how strong you all were for Glenn.
Love – John, Melinda, Hope, Grace, John, Eric, and Aidan
It was my honour and privilege to be part of the London Board of Basketball Officials with Glenn, and to call him my friend. I’ll forever remember Glenn as a kind and calm person, with a contagiously positive attitude on all things. Blow your whistle now and again, buddy. We’ll hear it for certain. My thoughts and prayers to Glenn’s family.
I had the privilege of working with Glenn for many years at the Cami plant. Spent a lot of our time together talking sports and razing each other about our favorite hockey team. It was always in good fun. Often talking about kids and golf game. Thinking of the Greenfield family and there loss. Praying to give you strength as you go through this very difficult time.
I have many fond memories of Glenn while working together at CAMI. I cannot ever recall a time when he did not have a smile or a joke to share.
Yiu will be missed my friend.
Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Glenn. An old cottage friend with many great memories. Thinking of the entire family during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with you all during this trying time. Always love every Xmas getting the beautiful card with the family picture. Your love and strength as a strong family will get you through the hard times.
Glenn was an amazing brother to Chad and I, and a loving uncle to Kate and April. He could light up a room, greeting people with a genuine smile, usually accompanied with a silly joke or pun. He always took a sincere interest in Kate and April’s activities, sports, jobs, and schooling. Glenn loved helping people, it brought him pure joy to help and engage with others. I can’t even begin to think of all the times he’s helped me over the past 40 years. He will be so dearly missed, and we will forever cherish all the amazing memories. Our hearts are broken, but we will continue to tell silly jokes in his honour. We’ll never watch a Knights, Leafs, or Jays game without thinking of you, Glenn.
Glenn’s smile and laughter will be missed on and off the court. A respected, reliable partner and a great friend.
Rest easy Glenn. Your spirit lives on in all of us.
Truly,
The Elgin Basketball Referees’ Association
Glenn will be missed at East Park. We always knew that he would be there to help out whenever needed. Glenn will be remembered for his smile, his laugh and overall friendly demeanor. On behalf of the staff at East Park we offer our condolences to the Greenfield family.
As Secretary of OABO, I came to know and work with Glen when he was Secretary/Treasurer of the London board. We also enjoyed numerous conversations at our Annual Meetings. He was a kind and respectful person. Basketball officiating was a big part of his life. Everyone who knew Glen and especially the London board will greatly miss him. Rest in peace Glen.
Krista I am so sorry to hear this. Sending love and hugs to you all.
We have lost a son-in-law that we loved and appreciated. There are so many wonderful memories to cherish. It has been a gift to have Glenn as part of our family.
My deepest condolences to the Greenfield family for the loss of Glenn…His happy fun loving personality will be sadly missed but NEVER forgotten !!
I would like to send the Greenfield family and extended family my sincere condolences for the loss of Glenn. He was a good person we lost last Sunday. This loss was so sudden after how Glenn lived good and vigorous retirement after working 30+ years. I cherish my memories of Glenn when I was in the same Environmental Studies program, joining all the sporting events he organized and drove to no matter how rough the USA city we visited. I will most cherish lately when Glenn and his brother met me in downtown Vancouver last Feb. after coming off major surgery for me and Glenn’s untiring efforts to get me into the game despite my saying I was not well enough to see the game. I guess I should’ve gone to the game as it would be the last time I saw Glenn.
Krista and family,
Our heartfelt condolences for your loss. Glenn will always be with you in your hearts.
Nancy & Fred
Our sincere Condolences to Krista and the Greenfield family. Glenn was a salt of the earth, dependable neighbour. So glad to have golfed with him last summer. On our street talks we’d cover family, sports and the economy. Over the years, he always spoke proudly of Andrew, Kinsey and Christopher, whether work, studies or sporting endeavours. I remember him saying buy white cars ’cause they never fade. Nor will your memory Glenn.
From the Alexanders
Kritsta and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have some fond memories of Glenn from Central Secondary school and as my roommate at Waterloo University.
Hugh Schomburg
Sincere condolences to Krista and extended family. So sorry for your loss.
Our deepest sympathy to Glenn’s family, Mrs. Greenfield, Richard and Heather. So sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace during this heartbreaking time.
I was sad to hear of Glenn’s passing; I hoped that medical breakthroughs would give him more time with his loved ones than he had, but unfortunately it was not to be. Even though Glenn won’t be with his family during this holiday season for the first time, I know that they will share many fond memories of him this year and in the years to come.
