Obituary
Marcon, Eunice
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eunice Marcon, who died peacefully at University Hospital on July 28, 2025, at the age of 89.
Eunice was a woman of warmth, wit and unwavering friendship. Her sense of humour, quick observations, talent for telling stories, and her joyful laugh brought light to even the most ordinary moments. She had an extraordinary gift for forming lasting friendships, and her life was beautifully full of people who loved her deeply and were loved by her in return.
Eunice was born in Hayes Middlesex, England on June 12, 1936. She emigrated to Canada from England when she was seventeen years old. After an adventure out west to Calgary for six months, she made London her home where her parents lived. After staying home to raise her two daughters, Eunice found joy working at Eaton’s (downtown) in the China Department. She was a natural at sales and took great pride in offering exceptional service. In addition, she worked at Sears in Men’s Suits and showed enthusiasm and warmth to all customers. Eunice was an incredible asset to her employers as she worked hard, built strong relationships and was well-respected by all. Her strong friendships with her colleagues and love of helping people kept Eunice in the workforce until she was 78 years old. Eunice had a passion throughout her life for dancing, music, reading, walking, animals, trying new recipes, and adventure. Above all, Eunice loved her family and friends.
Eunice was an incredible mother and friend to her children: Giustina (Todd) Tewkesbury and Lisa (Paul) Finlayson. Cherished and loving grandmother to Jennifer, Evan, Cole and Claire. Loving cousin to David (Nancy) McNamara of Michigan; Susan Harrison and Clare (Paul) Hayward of England; Patricia Mayfield and John Sillence of England. Loyal and loving friend to many who became like family to her over the years. Eunice was predeceased by her beloved parents, Irene and Harry Ansell and her step brothers, Robert and Michael; and close extended family, Mildred and David Smith and Linda Smith-Holbert of London; and, Thelma and David McNamara of Michigan.
As per Eunice’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Eulogy at 2:15 p.m.) at the A. Millard George Reception Centre, 60 Ridout Street South, London. All are welcome. A private interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Eunice will forever remain in our hearts. While she will be deeply missed by her family and treasured friends, we are endlessly grateful for the life she shared with us and the joy she brought to so many. My deepest sympathy to you Lisa, Tina and your families. How blessed you were to have your beautiful Mum in your lives for so long. She will live on in your hearts forevermore. 💞
Dear Lisa, Tina and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I feel very lucky to have known her. I always enjoyed talking with her and I can hear her voice in my head. I hope the memories of her, your closeness and love you had for her and she had for you both can bring you peace and comfort in this sad time. I wish I could be with you now and on the 25th in person. I will watch the Celebration of Life if that is an available option.
I worked with Eunice in the Eaton’s in Masonville Mall when she was there working in the China Department.
I was next door in the temporary Christmas Dept. and later in the Rug dept.
She was always very kind to me but had a habit of calling me Shirley – which was my mother’s name and I found it sweet not annoying.
Years later I ran into her when she was at Sears, and was pleasantly surprised that she remembered me.
My condolences on your loss,
Shari Liggett
To Lisa and Tina, and families:
Eunice was very, very British, as they say—English tea and English humor, the last demonstrated especially in a biting wit. At the same time, Eunice was very generous, kind, and warm hearted to us. That she invited our daughter to call her Nana is but one instance of her loving spirit and depth of soul.
To you we extend our sincerest condolences and our happiest memories.

I worked with Eunice in Masonville and we shared some good laughs. Although, she may not have been very fond of the times I would walk through her China department, wind up all the musical items she so lovingly would dust and arrange, only to leave her to wait for the cacophonous tunes to wind down.
Eunice, no doubt, will leave a void in your hearts and my wish is that your happy memories will, in time, fill that hole.
Sincerely and with deep condolences,

Lisa and family, Sending my deepest condolences. You are in my thoughts at this difficult time. Take comfort in the wonderful memories of your times together. She will be with you forever in your hearts and memories. Sending hugs 💕
Lisa, and Tina. I worked with Eunice at Eaton’s Masonville and have wonderful memories of our conversations throughout the 12 years we worked together. To this day many of her words of wisdom and advice continue to resonate with me. Her humour was her secret weapon. You could never stay upset for long when Eunice joined the conversation at break time. My condolences to her family
