Obituary
ASHBY, Donna..
April 17, 1940 – September 2, 2024
Donna Ashby passed away peacefully the morning of September 2, 2024, at Glendale Crossing in London, Ontario surrounded by her family. Donna will always be remembered for her kindness and caring to her family, friends, and anyone that she had the pleasure to meet. Even though Donna was reduced in her activities of living due to dementia in later life, she always was a bright light while under long term care and will be sadly missed by all her Glendale family.
Donna was born in Winnipeg, and then later moved to Toronto, London and St. Thomas. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and Texas, spending time with family and friends, and of course bingo!
Beloved wife of George for 64 years. Loving mother of Brent (Kelly) Ashby and Heather (Jason) Ashby-Buckingham. Dear grandmother of Daniel (Jessica), Sarah, Emma, Colton and Bret. Dear sister of Ernest Johnston (Evelyn). Also survived by her brother-in-law Phil. Predeceased by her parents Paul and Daisy and by her sister Carol Allison. Donna will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
George and family want to thank Glendale and their incredible caregivers for their kindness over the last six years. You brightened the final years of Donna’s life and were a support to her husband George and her entire family. You will not be forgotten.
In accordance with Donna’s final wishes, she will be cremated and a reception to celebrate her life will be held at the A. Millard George Funeral Home Reception Centre, located on the southeast corner of the parking lot at 60 Ridout Street South, London on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 1:00- 3:00pm.

Words cannot describe my sadness that this loving, gentle, amazing woman is no longer with us. For 42 years Mrs. Ashby has been like a second mom to me. I spent so much time at their house as a teenager and young adult. Mr. and Mrs. Ashby have been part of every special occasion in my life. My wedding, my children’s baptisms, special birthdays and anniversaries. I am going to miss you and your kindness. Thank you for being such an important person in my life.
Mr. Ashby, Heather, Brent and families…my deepest, heartfelt condolences to you all. I love you. ❤️
There are no words I can put together to express my sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved matriarch. To the family of this lovely lady, I hope you find comfort in the beautiful memories you have of such a wonderful lady. I remember going to Heather’s house as a early teen and teenager, Mrs. Ashby (as she will always be) was always welcoming to our ragtag group of teenaged girls. I remember her kindness and willingness to “give us our space” as we navigated those awkward years. Heather, I always envied the relationship you had with your mom, it was special and she always accepted you just for who you were and are. Wishing I could be there on the day of the memorial but I have plans already with my grandchildren and I hope your mom would understand. Thinking of you all during this challenging time as you move forward.
George I was sad to read about your wife. It is hard to lose a loved one. Take comfort that she was well cared for at Glendale, they looked after my mother for seven years . I saw how attentive you were , visiting her so often. Condolences to you and your family.
Brent, Kelly, and all of your family. We are holding you in our hearts and we are praying you have peace as you remember your mom, and celebrate her life.

George, so very sorry to hear of Donna’s passing. Condolences to you and your family at this very sad time.
I knew Donna when I was Chaplain at Glendale. Donna was such a sweet lady and the devotion and love shown her by George was an inspiration. My sympathy to all the family. May your sorrow be lessened by the memories you have of Donna. Hugs and Prayers
