STINSON, Donald Earl “Don”
Peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Victoria Hospital, London, Don passed away in his 92nd year. Beloved father of David Stinson and Sandra Stinson and her husband Matthew Vezina. In his later years, he was comforted by the care and compassion given by his former wife Mary Stinson. Dear brother of Marjorie Wisby, Bruce Stinson, Walter Stinson, Elvin Stinson, and Mary Williston. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Maggie May Stinson. Don will be lovingly remembered by many extended family members and friends.
Don loved hobby farming, spending over 30 years cultivating the land. Blessed with a green thumb, he grew gladiolus, raspberries, and a variety of garden vegetables, which he generously shared with neighbours and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing soccer and hockey, he was an avid baseball player and fan. A devoted man of faith, he loved to preach and teach his faith. Don enjoyed travelling with his family—always eager to learn the history of the places he visited. In his later years Don admired Ken Burns story telling style particularly documentaries devoted to history.

I want to express my deepest sympathies at this time. Don was always welcoming and gracious whenever we had the chance to meet. We weren’t always on the same side of the conversation, but he was always open and considerate. I think he enjoyed the challenge! I will miss him.
I am Donald’s stepson and his daughters husband. I had the the great pleasure of knowing Donald for half of my life, and in that time I have never met a more generous person. Don’s generosity was always heartfelt and came with no strings attached. It also extended across time, presence and finances, and Sandra and I always let him know how much it was appreciated. Over the years we did our best to spend time with Don and enjoy travels with him locally and internationally. The highlight was our trip together with Don, David, Sandra and I to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Don loved meeting the local Maya and I suspect he had developed a special hankering for one of the pretty locals, and her to him, I should add. We also have fond memories of visits to agricultural fairs, museums, galleries and various rural markets and farms. Don had a serious sweet tooth. He was not a large man in stature, however he still managed to excel in hockey, basketball, soccer and was an excellent marksman. Don took great interest in scripture and lived his life strictly by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Although he was a man of financial means, he never entertained any trappings of material success. Don lived an uncomplicated life and maintain great respect for our natural world. His life was a great example of how people can live in security and harmony without mortgaging the future, a lesson we all need to learn. Finally, I want to say goodbye to Don, my father in-law, and thank him for his kind heart and invaluable life lessons. You are in the hands of God now, rest easily.
It’s sad to learn of Don’s passing . I have many fond memories of adventures with Don and the other ‘big boy’ cousins on the the farm .
