It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave after a short battle with cancer. Dave passed away surrounded by family at London Health Sciences Centre on September 3rd, 2026. Pre-deceased by parents David (2019), Alice-Marie (2016) and sister Michelle (2002). He is survived by brothers James (Sue), Robert (Kristina) and sister Suzanne (Brendon). He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews Garrett (Melissa), Timothy and Emma (Jacob) Fraser, Sam Molloy and Matthew, Holly and Rebecca Pilgrim. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his brother-in-law Ian Fraser (Jane, Dayna, Kara), ‘adopted’ brother Fred Hutton and dear friend Rick Wituik.
Dave was born and raised in Newfoundland where he attended school at St. Bonaventure’s, Brother Rice High School and Memorial University. He was involved in sports at an early age and played softball, basketball, soccer and was the goalie for the Celtics hockey team. He moved to Toronto in the late 1980’s where he worked at Wrigley’s and met an amazing group of friends. In 1999, he moved to London and worked for 3M for 27 years where he made good friends and golf buddies over the years. He was a dedicated Habs, Yankees and Manchester United fan and an avid sports fan overall. Dave was knowledgeable about most things and was the best trivia partner. He had all the categories covered: history, movies, current events, sports and music.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Dave’s wishes there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 24, 2026 from 2-5pm at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 598, Delaware, ON. A second celebration will be held in St. John’s, NL at a later date when Dave’s ashes will be spread. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre or the charity of one’s choice.

So sorry for your loss Suzanne. I didn’t know Dave very well but he definitely had a big personality and a kind heart. Hopefully all the memories you have of Dave will help you through this painful time. Sending you and your brothers my love x

I was so sorry to hear of David’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of your family as Hutch and I cherished our friendship with your Mom and Dad and we were around when you were all growing up.
I remember that Hutch had a particular fondness for David and really appreciated his sense of humour.
It is so sad to lose your brother at such a young age.

Very sad to hear the news about Dave. I went all the way through school with him and even remember eating homemade marshmallow squares his mom would make after school. My condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I have such wonderful memories of growing up in St. Philips and spending teenage time at your place listening to Boston and Supertramp albums. It’s the music that always brings me back. I wish you guys the very best in these, again, most difficult times. Sincerely, Rod.
Jim, Robert, Suzanne and clan … so much pond hockey, grilling each other with hockey trivia, camping on Hogan’s Pond Island, transporting him on snowmobile while he had a garbage bag on his casted leg, The Breezeway and George St., many long weekends in Terra Nova Park, softball in both St. Philip’s and Toronto, room mates in 3 different apartments, co workers at Wrigley’s, in Hamilton to see Canada beat Sweden in ’91 Canada Cup (when Lindros pasted Samuelsson), road trip to Buffalo to see the Habs eliminate the Sabres in the ’93 playoffs and chatting with Bob Cole post game, concerts; AC/DC, Dire Straights, The Who, etc., renting a cottage in The Kawarthas, watching Jays vs Yankees at both The Ex and SkyDome. While we had drifted apart in recent years, Dave and I once covered a lot of ground together. Thinking of you all with genuine sympathy and fond memories of so many good times.
Deepest sympathies. Dave was a great guy. Worked directly with him for 24 years and played a few rounds of golf as well. He will be missed.

I worked with Dave for over 25 years at 3M and thought very highly of him. A great guy with a good work ethic and a hilarious sense of humour. He spoke fondly of his family and his growing up in Newfoundland and I enjoyed listening to his stories he told with fondness.
Learning of his passing was definitely a shock to us all. He will certainly be missed by many.
