Obituary
CARLYLE, Burn….
Surrounded by his family in London, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, Burn Carlyle passed away in his 83rd year. Loving husband of Betty (Dupuis) Carlyle for 41 years. Beloved father of Rebecca Allen (Taylor) and Kelly Carlyle (Jay). Proud grandpa of Finn and Tessa. Dear brother of Joe Carlyle (Barb/Leigh) and brother-in-law of Mike Dupuis (Lynne), and Rose Tolley (Scott). Burn will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was a proud member of the Ministry of Transportation. One of Burn’s final projects that he participated in was the development stages of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Burn was a passionate supporter of Toronto sports teams, with a special place in his heart for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life to be held in the fall of 2026. Please contact the family for specific details. What a guy! Been a friend of Burn’s since high school days in Cobourg. We had many good times and fond memories. He may be gone but certainly not forgotten. Condolences to the Carlyle family.

Betty and Family. I am so sorry to hear of Burn passing. We lost contact a long while ago and tried to reach out when our sister Judy Clinton passed Feb 11 2025 but couldn’t get in touch. Burn started at DHO, then DTC, then MTO on my survey crew probably about 1965/66. He was forever happy, never a foul word or criticism of others. A natural trainer and friend to new starters. We surveyed the new location of No.8 Hwy out of Kitchener toward New Hamburg cutting big old Maples and Ash by axe to make a centreline skyline. 6 mouths later the planners moved the line about 300 feet so all those trees were for naught. I could be wrong but I think he was Burnham Wellington Carlyle.
