Obituary
JOHNSON, Barbara Anne…
It is with mixed emotions we wish to announce Barbara Anne Johnson passed away peacefully in London, Ontario, on April 15th, 2024, in her 80th year. Sad, we have lost an adored sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Joyful she has been freed from a body which no longer served her needs and has been reunited with her beloved husband Eric Johnson (2021) and several furry companions. Barb will be missed by her sister Jean Blackman, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, cousins and friends from coast to coast.
Born in London, Ontario, the daughter of the late William and Agnes Buck, Barb had a long and successful career as an insurance broker. She and Eric loved to travel on weekends either by car or motorcycle. Later they enjoyed their time at the trailer in Prince Edward County. Barb was the family home decorating expert having assisted Eric in renovating their many homes. Her warm heart and talent for desserts made her the favourite aunt. Barb was also an accomplished pianist and often volunteered to play at the Village of Glendale Crossing where her sister Gerry (2011) was a resident.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and guests are invited to visitation on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, from 2-3pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The memorial service will follow at 3pm in the funeral home chapel. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Barb may be made to the Humane Society London & Middlesex or the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Barb left footprints and the memory of warm hugs on my heart. I knew her when I was Chaplain at Glendale Crossing. Barb shared her gift of music with us playing at many Celebrations of Life and helped out many residents with her quiet caring nature. She had a great sense of humor, want smile and made the world a better place. I am blessed for having her in my life albeit for a short time
Dear Nancy, Ian and family,
I am so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful lady. I remember meeting your Aunt Barb when we were in high school. A lovely woman and obviously a treasured member of your family. A wonderfully written tribute to her. Hugs to all.
Barb had the best laugh, back tickles, desserts, and joyful soul. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. May her laughter, love, kindness and strength live on forever.
My dearest Auntie Barb, you were so very special to me. You never missed a birthday card in 51 years. You and uncle Eric flew to Vancouver to celebrate my wedding with me. You both helped me cope with the loss of my dad at such a young age although you were both grieving as well. I’m so grateful for all the amazing times we had together whenever I came to Toronto. I will miss you terribly. Thank you for being the best and most loving aunt ever. I now understand why your family meant so much to you and uncle Eric through my emails with Nancy. I will love and miss you forever and cherish the beautiful doll you gave me from your collection. You said you bought it because it reminded you of me. Nancy and family I am so sorry for your loss, hold onto the memories and never forget how much auntie Barb loved you all. ❤️❤️
