Obituary

JANZEN: At his residence on Thursday, May 3rd, 2007 Dr. Victor D. Janzen of London in his 67th year. Beloved husband of Jane E. (Gleason) Janzen. Dear brother of Bill Janzen and his wife Dorothy, Abe Janzen and his wife Erna and Jake Janzen and his wife Herta, all of Coaldale, Alberta and Peter Janzen of Deep River, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents Abram and Anna Janzen and his sister Elizabeth Wiebe. Dear son-in-law of Violet Gleason of London. Dear brother-in-law of Ed Wiebe of Edmonton, Alberta, Norman Gleason of London and June and Edward Davis of St. Joseph’s, Ontario. Dr. Janzen will be sorely missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation with inurnment of cremated remains at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Sunday, May 13th at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London where a memorial service will be conducted in the chapel on Monday, May 14th at 12 noon. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the London Regional Cancer Program, (for Mesothelioma Research), 747 Baseline Road East, London, ON N6C 2R6.     I was so sorry to hear about Vic. I worked with him in the Department of Otolaryngology at University Hospital back in the 1970’s and grew to admire him very much. Please know that my most sincere condolances go out to you at this difficult time.

    As an Anesthesiologist I worked with Victor while he practiced at UH and at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He showed great concern for his patients and was a dedicated clinical teacher in the ENT program. He developed the subspeciality of sinus surgery in London. I offer my sincere sympathy.     It was with great sadness that I learned of Dr. Janzen’s recent death. Please accept my sincere condolences. He was a kind and thoughful man as well as an excellent physician. I am very grateful for the exceptional care he provided me and mourn his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    I was very saddened to read of Dr. Janzen’s passing in the LFP this AM. He provided exceptional care to me both preoperatively and postoperatively at a time when I was quite ill. Both as a nurse and also a recipient of his care, I grew to value his calm and quiet bedside manner. He will be missed personally by me and I know by the health care community at large. My sincere condolences.

    Dear Jane and Family:

    We were sorry to hear of Vic’s passing.

    Brian knew Vic because they both enjoyed the game of tennis. While Brian and Vic did not share the court very often, he was aware of Vic’s significant achievements in the game as an adult player. Vic worked hard to develop his skills, and the high level he achieved as a competitive player was an encouragement to many in his age group. Vic’s accomplishments made the others feel that they too could be successful at the game.

    I, of course, have played with you, Jane, on occasion over the years, and I was also aware of Vic’s interest, dedication, and success in tennis.

    We extend our sympathy to you and your family.
