Obituary
FLYNN, Nancy…
Quietly, with family by her side at Fox Hollow Retirement Home, London on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, Nancy passed away at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband Peter (2013) and her son John (2012), Nancy was the proud mother of Michael (Margaret), Kathleen (Martin), Kyle (Mary), James (Janet), John (Shellie), Anne Louise (Tony) and Mark. Loving grandmother of Erin, Julie, Jared, Arlie, Laura, Lisa, Brieuc, Justin, Carolyn and Kristen and great-grandmother of Josie and Ivy. Dear sister of Kathleen Czap.
Along with raising her seven children, Nancy worked for many years right up to her retirement from UWO – DB Weldon library. She enjoyed many active years of community involvement as a long-time member of St. Martin’s parish, a member and past president of the Catholic Women’s League, joyful participant with Young at Heart Singers and with Boys’ and Girls’ Club, volunteer with Hospice and devoted friend and caregiver to many, especially those in need of support or the comfort of one of her classic freshly baked pies, banana loaves or cookies! What a wonderful legacy of caring she has given all of us.
Until recently, Nancy enjoyed excellent health, and in her retirement a true highlight was travel and time spent with her sister Kathleen. Her pride and joy in life revolved around family and was reflected in her warm and unforgettable smile.
The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at St. Francis-St. Martin’s Catholic Church, 46 Cathcart Street, London. Friends are welcome to the visitation one hour prior (10:00-11:00am). Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London. If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation to Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, 2463 Innes Road, Ottawa, ON K1B 3K3, would be welcome. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Dear Kyle and family,
I remember your mom back in the days we attended St. Martins School when you lived on Elmwood Ave. My deepest condolences to all of the Flynn family at this difficult time.
My condolences to all the Flynn family in this time of sorrow… she was a special woman
We fondly remember how vibrant and welcoming Nancy was when we last saw her at her birthday party in 2016.
Our condolences to all the family.
In regards to our amazing mother, I just never understood how she :
• Had roast beef on the table each Sunday
• Had so many groceries in the fridge, always
• Had all of us KIDS at that table every night for supper- and well-behaved
• Had time to bake, to bake, to bake, and always each of us had a marvelous birthday cake…
• Managed to take us to the dentist annually
• Had us all with ‘chores’ – household responsibilities (no questions asked)
• Showed up at all the school events (despite always having employment outside the home!)
• Paid for piano lessons – so much money, so many years, and where did the hockey equipment, the skis, etc. come from (OK, sure, there were a few hand-me- downs but…)
• Managed to have so many gifts under the tree – it was massive, you can’t imagine (but she confirmed recently that it took her all year long to pay off the credit card(s) …..and then it, the preparing for Christmas, started all over again, year after year)
• Served at / contributed to parish events and the CWL – always
But of course now, at my age, I do understand how she did it all : her faith, the Community around her, members of which all thought the same way about God, Family and Service, her boots on the ground attitude about life, and finally …. the early challenges in life (her own childhood in Nova Scotia, then in Ontario as teenager) which produced in her the stamina, resilience and determination, that we Flynns have benefitted so greatly from !
Both of our parents, born in the Great Depression, were born with little, had to make it. And they did.
It is an honour to be their daughter.
Farewell Mom. You did a fantastic job. Say hi to Dad and John.
Au revoir. Je t’aime.
Love from Anne-Louise

My sincere condolences to Nancy’s family. I knew Nancy from Saturday morning mass and rosary at St. Martin’s Parish. She will always be remembered for her kindness, and generous service. A faithful soul who will be welcomed into eternity as a good and faithful servant who brought laughter and a welcoming smile to all she encountered.
