Obituary
PRIEST, David Ross…
1940 – 2022
David’s childhood was blessed growing by Stratford’s Lake Victoria, discovering baby wild life nestling along its banks; drawn to an everlasting love and talent for music within his family home of his dad, J.T. Priest. David too was blessed with two children, Jane and Quinn.
David’s life was closed by cruel cancer but not without constant attention and caring by friends Ryner Stoetzer and Mary Aziz-Stoetzer, outstanding staff of Westmount Gardens – Iris Unit, and life-time bud sister Ann Pike.

My deepest sympathies to those closest to David and David’s family. I am grateful to have known him and I will cherish my fond memories of creating music with him. He was a brilliant musician and truly kind person, I know he will be dearly missed. Sending my heartfelt condolences
I remember David very well. When I was about 21 years I was introduced to Bill Caldwell who was the manager of Canadian Talent Productions which was located in Lambeth, ON. David played a big part in the grooming of the songs we learned and later played in Northern Ontario. I knew Dave for about 3 years. He was always laughing or making us laugh. He could be very hilarious. He could also be very serious – a true musician and loyal to his music. I miss him.
Condolences to all his family.

I have wonderful memories of David when he lived in Stratford. He was blessed with a musical gift and shared it with the world. He was an amazing Jazz musician and he will always be loved and remembered.
I grew up with Dave in Stratford in the late 40’s.Those were good times, skating on Lake Victoria, get-togethers with his family and ours, tobogganing down the hill where the festival theatre is now.
Dave had a great sense of humour and had us all in stitches when we got together.
He was a great pianist in addition being able to play the cello. He loved to play the piano by ear. His mother would yell ” David, get back to your sheet music”.
I moved away from Stratford in the early ’50’s and so lost track of each other.
When I visit Stratford I always drive by his house and remember the good times we had together.
Rest In Peace, old friend.
David was a long time friend of our family where it began with David’s association with Yamaha Canada Music. I remember taking lessons from David when I was in my early teen years. If it was not for David, I would not of had the appreciation for jazz music like I do today. I play David’s C.D. Smile when I am long road trips and remember the times jamming with together. Rest in Peace my friend. See you on the flip side.
To David’s Family –
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of David. I remember him from our High School days in Stratford, just as I remember his Dad so well. J.T. Priest was our music teacher. Do know my caring thoughts are with you. Norma (Dunn) Clare London
