Obituary
OLTHOFF, John…
We give thanks for the life of John Albert (Jan) Olthoff, who passed away peacefully in hospital on September 12, 2022, at the age of 78. John was grateful every day for the moments he had been given, and he treasured the 25 years of additional life made possible by a generous kidney donor. John especially valued his lifelong faith in Jesus. He was devoted to – and was deeply loved by – wife Helen (Leni) nee Linker; daughter, Jodi; and son Shawn and daughter-in-law Heather and their children, Ashlyn and Shayleigh. He is also mourned by his siblings Dorothy Olthoff (Henry, d. 1990), Ben and Florence, Henrietta and Oakie, and Rien, and was a beloved brother-in-law of Dinie, Martha and Klaas. John is predeceased by his parents John and Alice Olthoff. Many nephews, nieces and friends in his faith community also remember and mourn him. John lived and served with steadfastness, integrity and humility. We will remember his devotion to family, his faith, his wry humour and his determination to make the most of the extra years and days he was given. Our sincere thanks to his medical teams through the years, and especially to the health care professionals at Parkwood Hospital in his final days. Cremation has taken place. The funeral will take place on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2 pm at Talbot Street Church, 513 Talbot Street, London, with Pastor Steve Dozeman officiating. The family will be available for condolences in the church atrium at the conclusion of the funeral. Donations may be made in John’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, P.O. Box 27056, Masonville P.O., 60 North Centre Road, London, ON N5X 3X6 or World Renew, P.O. Box 5070, STN LCD 1, Burlington, ON L7R 3Y8. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of John. We will miss our times with John when we crossed paths with him and Jodi at Special Olympics, Friendship church group, and at Jodi’s programs.
On behalf of Clarence Veldhuis’s family we would like to send our deepest condolences on the passing of John to all the Olthoff family. We pray that God will grant you peace and strength during this difficult time.

I read about Mr. Olthoff in the paper and was reminded of his mother Alice. I worked in dialysis for many years at St Joe’s. Alice was a lovely person and bore her illness with never a complaint. I’m sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences.
